Honda Gold Wing description

2005 Honda Gold Wing, Few motorcycles can claim a longer life span or more loyal following than Hondas 30-year-old flagship tourer, the Gold Wing. With an 1,832cc liquid-cooled, horizontally opposed, six-cylinder engine, dual full-floating, 296mm front discs and a single ventilated 316mm rear disc, all squeezed by three- piston calipers youll have all the power and control you could ever ask for. In 2001, the Gold Wing received a twin-spar, aluminum box-section frame that offers nearly double the stiffness and torsional rigidity of the old steel frames. Once tipped into a sweeper, the bike tracks like a slot car and isnt afraid of a grin-inducing lean angle. Bring this bike up to freeway speeds and its windjamming capabilities become quite evident. Also quite evident at the end of a ride is how well you feel thanks to the Wings ergonomics. There are many reasons that the Honda Goldwing stays on the Best Sellers List year after year. Mick Doohan NSR500 art sculpture

Wed, 04 Apr 2012

How do you best immortalise the great Mick Doohan and the big bang Honda NSR500 with which he dominated Grand Prix racing in the 90s? An Australian artist has answered this by creating an art installation that sees a hand-created replica of the bike exploded and suspended from the ceiling. The Doohan piece is appropriately titled 'The Big Bang' and as artist Eamon O'Tootle describes, "It is a complex sculpture comprising thousands of parts joining to make up a whole and symbolic tribute to the true inherent nature of art and sport – the creativity of design, where the mechanical is modified to suit the needs of man." Eamon added: "The way the Doohan piece came about was that one of the bikes Mick rode had an engine configuration called the Big Bang.
