2006 Honda 919
Honda’s 2006 919 model features impressive horsepower and torque with inspiration from the legendary CBR 900RR. This model has a stunning muscular 919cc open class engine. The 2006 version is the lightest among all 919 models weighing only about 428 pounds. What makes it even more comfortable than the rest is that its seat is designed for drivers to take long trips, commute and enjoy sport riding.
In addition to these stunning features, Honda also made sure that the 2006 919 model has an upgraded electronic digital ignition that offers immediate throttle response and maximizes power output. The dual center-up exhausts exit is built below the rear cowl and appears very stylish. It also boasts a 43mm adjustable cartridge front fork, super lightweight three-spoke wheels with aluminum cast and a single-shock rear suspension. These features add more to the 2006 Honda 919’s exceptional handling.
Furthermore, this model’s chassis and steering head are responsible for improved balance and optimal rigidity. The single-box section down-tube extends to the front engine mount with a cross-member that allows the frame to attach to the solid front mounts. The extruded triple box section spars and large single cast pivot block comprise the bike’s lightweight swing arm made of aluminum. In order to run on different surfaces smoothly, Honda built the 919 with a cartridge front fork measuring 43mm with adjustable preload equipped with compression damping. Travel suspension measures 4.3 inches, and this contributes to the bike’s excellent handling and precise action no matter how challenging the road is. A 296mm front disc with 4-piston calipers and the rear disc with one-piston caliper make up the brake system.
The 2006 Honda 919 features a compact 919cc liquid cooled DOHC. This engine is the lightest of all in the 919 series. What makes it more compact is its one-piece cylinder assembly with a 32 degree narrow valve and right-side cam-drive design. The 16,000 mile valve maintenance intervals and high RPM durability are just a few of the benefits that this model’s compact valve actuation system brings.
What keeps the 2006 Honda 919 noiseless is its 16-bit electronic control unit that offers 3-D fuel injection maps for each cylinder. On the other hand, there is only a single 3-D fuel injection map for the cylinder pairs. Its long engine life can be attributed to its lightweight aluminum radiator and the water-cooled oil cooler. Owners can be sure that the engine’s temperature is always at consistent and desirable levels.
Another contributor to the bike’s sleekness is the compact single piece alternator that is also ultra-lightweight. Its AC generator runs at 380 watts, and the bike’s engine power band perfectly matches its 6-speed transmission gear ratio.
Other features include the aviation-style fuel cap, aluminum grab rail for passengers and maintenance-free battery with sufficient starting capabilities. It also has a stunning black ignition, clutch covers and valves. The seats are covered with vinyl, and they are ergonomically designed with space enough to accommodate both the driver and the passenger. Both the brakes calipers have golden-coating that make them look more luxurious.
The 2006 Honda 919’s instrumentation includes a digital odometer that has two trip meters along with a standard clock. Speedometer also comes with a classy analog black face, indicator lights, fuel injection and a high beam. Owners who want to go on long trips can be confident on a long run with its 5-gallon capacity tank. Another amazing additional feature is the bank-angle sensor. It automatically shuts off the fuel supply to the injector system should the motorcycle tip over. However, it remains unaffected if there is vibration resulting from bumpy surfaces in normal operations. The 2006 Honda 919 looks even more stunning with a candy red color. However, fork bags, bag liners, front rack, storage covers, tank bags, tank dividers and under seat storage is not available.
