Honda CB description
This is an excellent condition 1983 CB1100F in Red. I purchased this bike and a matching blue one (which was sold last week) from an older gentleman in PA who was restoring them. This bike was taken apart, frame painted and restored from the ground up. New seals, new bearings, all work was done at a very high level. The bike has really the best of components and nothing was overlooked in the project. Aftermarket parts include expensive CR carbs that are cleaned, properly jetted, and synchronized by Bill Blake at Rocky Point Cycles. Exhaust is hard to find Vance & Hines aluminum canister with K&N filters replacing the old airbox. Has very rare fox reservoir shocks, steering damper and aftermarket oil cooler. New tires with less than 500 miles on them. Tires are Bridgestone Battlax BT45R front is 110 18" and rear is a 150 17" which is very tight and required the chain guard to be taken off for clearance (the wider rear tire looks awesome. The stock size was a 130 or 140). Rear sprocket makes a HUGE difference as the front wheel comes right up in first gear and highway speeds are still good. The VERY cool and VERY rare japan-only tail section has a locking compartment. The paint work on the bike is excellent. The tank and side covers are mint. There is a small surface scratch on the tail (shown) and another on the chin fairing (shown). The front fender has some waves in the paint but they don't show up unless the light is just right and I tried to show it here. Like my other CB1100F, the trip meter knob is broken. The tabs on the key/fuse cover are intact (this is rare!) The fuel tank is immaculate with no rust/corrosion inside. Fuel is treated to prevent ethanol issues. Bike was fully restored so the forks/seal were done, stainless steel brake lines replaced the old rubber lines. Charging system rebuilt, new fuel tank petcock, all new brakes and master cylinder (brakes work like brand new). Guages all function as new and bike has been tuned within the last six months with new plugs, oil change to 20w-50 racing oil and brand new battery. The engine runs very strong without any issues. With the carbs and exhaust, the bike is very fast and sounds great. The seat was recovered and is perfect. This bike turns heads everywhere I ride it. It still looks new and is 33 years old! Comes with brand new Pit Bull wheel stand (shown), one set of keys that includes one (1) for ignition/gas cap/helmet holder and one (1) for rear tail section storage compartment. Clear title and currently registered. On Jun-14-16 at 11:17:17 PDT, seller added the following information: I’ve had a good number of questions about the bike, the reserve, and the exact condition so I figured I would add this description. I own a decent collection of vintage bikes. These are the bikes of my youth, bikes that I loved and couldn’t afford, as well as bikes that I used to own. In this collection is two (2) 1982 Suzuki Katana 1000SZ’s, one (1) 1982 Suzuki Katana 550, two (2) Honda VF1000R’s (an 85 with 300 original miles and an 86 that is just as mint but with 10K miles), one (1) 1986 MINT GSXR1100, and a near museum 1975 Norton Commando 850 (830). I also own two Ducatis and ALL of my bikes are either mint condition OR excellent condition riders and I ride them all (except the 85 VF1000!). I don't have a roach in the bunch as I am very discerning. I bought these two CB1100F’s from an older guy and they were both in very good condition. I sold the blue one last week for $2800 and I feel this one is worth all of $5,000 and set the "buy-it-now" price accordingly as it would easily cost this much to reproduce sans labor, but I set the reserve at $3,000 as it needs to be sold. It is a rider for sure in that it has mileage and has been restored rather than being all original, but it is beautiful and a 9 out of 10, maybe more considering that it is 30+ years old. I guess I’d say it is the PERFECT bike for someone who has wanted a CB11000F and plans on actually riding it and racking up miles. Collectors and museum guys, look elsewhere as the mods to the bike are all custom and special and designed to make the bike a better rider, not a 100% accurate original OEM ride. Hope that helps. On Jun-14-16 at 11:29:00 PDT, seller added the following information: Forgot to mention that I rode her into work (42 miles each way) a few weeks ago. No issues. |

Gardner chilling out and taking it easy
Wed, 14 Jul 2010Away from the pressures of being a Grand Prix racer in the days when fierce on-track battles and unexpected highsides were common place, Wayne Gardner throws a Honda VFR750F around Oran Park in Australia. The bike that Wayne is likely to be riding is special VFR750F, that was given the codename '6X'. The VFR was an experiment with prototype components including titanium valves and magnesium flat-slide carburetors, the result was the bike that weighed less than a factory RC30.
