Honda CB description

Selling my 1976 CB 550

I had two bikes ( this and a 2 stroke GT 380) that I was going to fully restore, paint etc, however I opportunity to attain a Bmw r75 bike I had my eye on ever since I barn found it with a buddy 5 years ago. The Deal was hadn't done the build within 5 years, I get the bike. He's held his end. So unfortnetly I had to sell my Suzuki and now my Honda so in can do a ground up cafe build on the BMW.

The Honda runs great, has character and typical petina and "marks of age " on it.

Engine: timing was done, carbs cleaned and correctly jetted for the pod filters. Doesn't smoke and starts right up ( like any bike it likes alittle choke at first-- but idles right after) has typical slight oil seap left cylinder ( google it. They all do it and have done it since the 70's). Isn't an issue.

Body: tires are brand new, forks are fine however don't know when they were last done so wouldn't hurt. Exhaust pipe had small hole in it due to previous owners tip over or car hit it into the axle nut ( patched up not the prettiest but works fine ) seat had small rip and repaired with matching tape ( can barley tell) tanks good, fuel lines good
Side panel has crack in it ( was accidentally smushed off the bike while repairing ) easy to glue up. Right side missing emblem

Needs tlc and some small cosmetic repairs if you care about perfection.

Q3 2013 US Motorcycle Sales Results

Fri, 01 Nov 2013

Motorcycle and scooter sales in the U.S. in 2013 remain consistent with last year’s figures, according to data released by the Motorcycle Industry Council. Several manufacturers blamed poor weather for the poor start this year, and the rebounding sales in the third quarter helped to negate the slow sales from earlier in the year.

Shawn Higbee Wins On The Brough Superior Taylor Made Racing Moto2

Thu, 01 May 2014

In only its second race appearance, the Brough Superior Taylor Made Racing Moto2 bike competed in the WERA F1 and B Superbike events on April 27th at the Autoclub Speedway in Fontana, California, run in conjunction with the first round of the GEICO Superbike Shootout, presented by Yamaha. During the F1 race, rider Shawn Higbee moved up to as high as 2nd place from a 5th row start on the Brough Superior TMRGP2 bike.  The TMRGP2′s lightweight all carbon fiber chassis and 600cc Honda powerplant demonstrated impressive cornering speed on the tight infield sections but could not match the top speed of the heavily modified 1000cc F1 bikes on the long straights. On the last lap Higbee was shuffled back to 4th place at the finish line.

US Motorcycle Thefts Down 6% in 2011

Tue, 09 Oct 2012

Americans reported 46,667 motorcycle thefts in 2011, a 6% decrease from 49,791 stolen motorcycles in 2010, reports the National Insurance Crime Bureau. Despite the drop in reported thefts, the non-profit organization representing nearly 1100 property and casualty insurance companies says the theft rate still averages out to one motorcycle stolen every 11 minutes in the U.S. The numbers were published in the NICB’s 2011 ForeCAST Report which examined theft reports as well as recoveries.
