1975 Honda Cb on 2040-motos

Honda CB description
Up for bid is my 1975 cb750f. This is the first model year for the Super Sport, and a bit more rare than the later SOHC models, as the F0's were only produced for a few months before the 1976 F1's were released. I purchased this bike five years ago and have enjoyed it immensely, but it's now time to focus on other things.
Overall, this is a very well cared for old bike with some tasteful improvements. My goal was to make it more like the iconic 400f in its styling and it gets lots of looks and complements wherever I ride it. It has some patina, as should be expected of a 41 year old, unrestored motorcycle. That said, you can tell it has been well cared for and always stored inside. For instance, many of the yellow inspection marks from the factory are still in place. I believe the bike was originally Flake Sunrise Orange, but it was painted black before I bought it. I think this model wears black well, so I left it alone. The paint is far from show quality, but it is very presentable for a nice rider. There is one pencil eraser sized ding in the side of the tank. Black aftermarket Honda badges were installed on the tank and it is very clean inside. Side covers are nice and lack the gaudy original badges. The stainless trim is removed from the seat and cowl, but they will go to the winning bidder. The seat has been professionally recovered with a quality cover. Unfortunately, some seat foam was replaced by the upholsterer toward the front of the seat without my approval and is slightly noticeable under the cover. I was disappointed by this, but it wasn't bad enough for me to have it done again. The exhaust is an aftermarket 4 into 1 pipe from the early 80's. I'm unsure of the brand. It sounds louder than the large stock unit, but not obnoxious, which I like. The points have been eliminated and replaced with a Dynatek electronic unit and upgraded coils. The original points plate will be included in the sale. There is a K&N element in the original air box. Carbs were rebuilt and synced a year ago and still seem in tune. They were up jetted slightly to compensate for the better exhaust and air filter. The engine has never been opened to the best of my knowledge. It does have the typical weepy head gasket that all old Honda SOHC's have. I assure you, this is not affecting performance. This bike runs and shifts really, really well. The winning bidder won't be disappointed. There are vintage Koni shocks on the bike which look period correct. One shock mount was stripped on the bottom so it has a long bolt through it with a nut on the end. This works well, but you may choose to have the shock helicoiled. It just never bothered me enough. The chain is a high quality x ring replacement. I have never serviced the front forks, so that may be a good winter project for the new owner. That said, the bike handles pretty darn nice as is. I never thought Honda made the right choice when they put the really tall bars on, so I removed them and put 400f bars with bar end mirrors. Wiring is in the bars as original. I retrofitted a 400f throttle cable and shorter brake line to make the 1" rise bars work. What an improvement! I also removed the gigantic seventies signals and replaced them with tasteful aftermarket units. The silly turn signal beeper that these bikes had stock is disconnected. The front caliper is rebuilt with a stainless piston. The original high rise cruiser type handlebars are in great shape and go with the bike. The coolest modification are the polished Excel rims laced to the original hubs with stainless spokes. I had this done by Buchanans Spoke and Rim in California. They are super classy and much lighter and truer than stock. They don't look different enough from stock to detract attention, but detail oriented folks will notice. Avon Roadrider tires are mounted on the rims. They probably have 1000 miles on them. If I can find the original steel rims in the shed, those will go with the bike as well. I'm sure I'm forgetting some things I've changed but nothing major. You could easily jump on this thing and ride it anywhere. I will make sure it has a fresh battery, oil/filter, and a full tank of premium. I encourage anyone interested to check out the bike in person. It's located in central Illinois. I have the motorcycle for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. The bike is 40 years old and therefore, there is no warranty express or implied. All sales are final. I require a $500 deposit within 48 hours of auction end via PayPal and the remaining balance due upon pick-up. Any shipping is the sole responsibility of the buyer. |

Ronax 500 – the Street Legal Two-Stroke GP Replica
Mon, 09 Jun 2014After teasing us for nearly two months, German brand Ronax has revealed its 500cc two-stroke sportbike. Ronax isn’t saying it’s a street-legal replica of the Honda NSR500 that Valentino Rossi rode to win the 2001 Grand Prix world championship – probably because they legally can’t – but that’s essentially what the 500 is. Honda MotoGP Testing Idled By Engine Failure Investigation
Wed, 29 Feb 2012A red warning light prevented Honda riders from taking part in the second day of MotoGP testing at Malaysia’s Sepang circuit. While its competitors were hitting the track, Honda was forced to wait for analysis on the engine of Dani Pedrosa‘s RC213V. A red warning light on the RC213V’s dash came on late in the first day of testing, indicating a potential failure.
