Honda CB description
1974 honda cb550. Bike is a 4 owner bike (Including myself). The second owner purchased it in 1977, rode it till 1979, then parked it in his basement tillhe died in 2014. Bike was then sold at his estate auction to the person I purchased it from. That individual decided that it was easier to coat the bike in black spray paint rather than clean off the filth that had accumulated over the last several years, and also caught it on fire while attempting to get the bike running and burnt the front left corner of what been a perfect original seat. I purchased it from him, completely serviced it, and rode it though the summer of 2014 taking the bike from 6000 to 7000 miles. During which time Ittried to remove the spray paint but was unable to do so. I then ran across another bike and then this one became parts for that. Motor and transmission are solid, front fork and boots are in very good condition, seat is decent with the only flaw being the burnt corner, tank and side covers are not original. Tank needs cleaned and coated as it has semi heavy rust inside. side covers are chiped and one has a crack, has no front mastercylinder. Also has no ignition switch or rear grab bar/tail lights. I have the title to the bike but need to obtain copies of the power of attorney paperwork from the lawyer who handled the estate so that it can be transferred. All in all id call this a parts bike. Feel free to ask any questions. Thanks for looking.

Honda’s V-4 History
Tue, 06 Oct 2009As Honda prepares its new VFR1200 for its official unveiling, the red-wing company has set up a website detailing its long involvement in V-4 engines. It began back in 1979 with the introduction of the NR500 grand prix racebike. Rather than fielding a 500cc two-stroke engine, Honda used a four-stroke oval-piston V-4 motor – essentially a V-8 with four cylinders that could be revved to 19,500 rpm!
