Harley-Davidson VRSC description

2013 Harley-Davidson VRSCF - V-Rod Muscle, 2013 Harley-Davidson V-Rod MuscleDrag-style Handle Bars with Instrument ClusterTake to the streets in an aggressive power cruising position. With its aluminum shell cast over steel 1-inch tubing and internally-routed wiring, this angular drag-inspired bar comes on with a clean, mean and meaty attitude. The attached triple gauge cluster bold, sleek and easy-to-read mph, rpm and fuel gauges is our distinct take on custom performance.Revolution Engine HeritageFrom the Strip to the Street. Harley-Davidson has a passion for performance that is rooted in decades of racing and winning championships. So when The Motor Company set out to produce a high-powered, liquid-cooled engine, it began with the VR1000 superbike engine. Its performance is inspired by American-style, big, powerful torque coupled with high-end horsepower. The Revolution engine is the heart of a machine that attracts a new breed of riders who are fascinated by the heritage and mystique of Harley-Davidson and the power of a high-end street performance motorcycle.Hydroformed FrameHarley-Davidson's Chief Styling Officer Emeritus, Willie G. Davidson, asked for a frame so beautiful it could sit in a museum. And that's exactly what the Harley-Davidson team of engineers created. Using an innovative process called hydroforming, they were able to form unconventional angles and apply fewer welds by bending and shaping metal pipes with high-pressure water. The result: a sturdy chassis with improved rigidity. To date, The Motor Company is the only major motorcycle manufacturer to use hydroforming to construct frames.Brembo Brakes with Optional ABSIncreased confidence. Control. High-performance Brembo dual-disk brakes offer consistent stopping power at every leg of your journey. Plus, the optional Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) helps reduce the chance of wheel lock-up if you need to brake suddenly. And since we hid the speed sensor, the bike maintains its clean, slick look. Performance without sacrificing style. That's what The Motor Company is all about. The Anti-Lock Brakes are offered as a part of the Security Package (which includes the H-D Smart Security System).Forward-Mounted ControlsWith the custom forward-mounted controls on the V-Rod Muscle model, you can kick back a little and stretch your legs for the ultimate power cruise through town or across the state line. It's time to take in the open road the way you were meant to on a two-wheeled machine that's built to outmuscle the rest.Features: Dual Exhaust with Satin Chrome Finish Fat Rear Tire Air Box Cover Mirror Turn Signals LED Stop-Turn-Tail Lights Side

Survey Says Harley-Davidson and BMW Motorcycles Less Reliable Than Japanese – But Owners Don’t Care

Tue, 26 Mar 2013

A new survey conducted by the Consumer Reports National Research Center finds BMW and Harley-Davidson  owners are much more likely to report major problems with their motorcycles than owners of Honda, Kawasaki and Yamaha motorcycles. The survey, which will appear on the April 2013 issue of Consumer Reports, says one in three BMW owners reported experiencing a major problem with their bikes in the last four years. Harley-Davidson owners were slightly better, with one in four reporting serious issues.

Motorcycles at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show

Mon, 28 Sep 2009

Two weeks ago, I took a break from my regular duties gathering news for Motorcycle.com to fly to Germany to cover the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show for our sister site AutoGuide.com. For two hectic days, AutoGuide editor Colum Wood and I scrambled across the massive 6.2 million square foot Messe Frankfurt trade fair compound, running from press conference to press conference to get the latest on exotic sport cars, futuristic concept models and international unveilings from the automotive world. It was heaven for car lovers, but for me, it meant fighting my way through hordes of photogs, auto-journalists and car show models to get the first photos of four-wheeled goodies from MINI, Ferrari and Lotus.

Happy Birthday Elvis!

Fri, 08 Jan 2010

Born on January 8th, 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi, Elvis Aaron Presley would have been 75 years ago today if he was still alive today.  As a tribute to “The King” of Rock and Roll, the Harley-Davidson Museum has created a special exhibit, expanding on the semi-permanent collection from Elvis that has been on display since the museum was opened in 2008. The bill of sale, insurance, and registration papers for the 1956 Harley-Davidson KH pictured above will be on display along with the motorcycle that was owned by Elvis and the Graceland Museum has loaned some rare photos for the occasion. Along with Cadillac’s, Elvis had a passion for motorcycles but especially loved his Hogs and rode Harley’s in many of his films, including Roustabout (1964), Viva Las Vegas (1964), Clambake (1967) and Stay Away Joe (1968).
