Description PLENTY OF LIFE LEFT IN THIS LOW MILEAGE RETIRED POLICE
BIKE!! I bought this bike
in July 2008 and the owner before me, a former TV anchor, bought the bike in June of 2005, and it has
been a terrific bike. It was originally registered to the Sheriff's
department of Frederick County Maryland (I have copies of the service
tickets), and in the four years I've ridden it, I've noticed no problems
neither did the former owner. I had
the bike completely checked at a cost of $1329.93 by Chesapeake HD shortly
after I bought it. Since than I only
drove only 200 miles The
bike still has all the original police equipment, except for the 2-way
radio. It has the original siren, police lights, whooper, strobe,
etc. Clear lights are substituted for the blue and red ones on the
front of the bike so it would be legal in
The bike is great for parades and charity runs. It's a real head-turner
because it's an authentic police (sheriff) bike. As a matter of fact,
the 'sheriff 'insets are still on the saddle bags.
This bike is a joy to ride. I don't know what this police department
did to their Harleys when they buy them, but I've had other Electra-Glides,
including a 1967 police bike, and this one has much more pep and torque
(1450cc engine). It moves! The
overall body condition is just about excellent. Except for two small
dents on he left side of the tank (due to the fact that I did not put the
stand out right and the bike slowly fell behind be) I haven't noticed any body damage or major other
dings or dents. It certainly isn't a new bike, but it's a very well
maintained, clean bike that you can ride anywhere. It has not only an
air suspension, but the seat has its own air suspension to add to the
comfort. You just don't get tired riding this bike!
In the trunk is an extra battery (which is 1 year old) toward the
front. That's because this bike has 2 batteries - the second one being
needed because police officers often shut their bikes down, but continue
to run the lights to control traffic, etc. With the 2nd battery, you
know you always have more than enough battery power. The main battery was bought 1 1/2 year ago
The seat has a very small worn spot along the edge but it's hard to see
unless you're really looking for it. It's not even close to being a
serious tear or anything, but I wanted to point it out.
Other than that, this bike is a joy to ride. I've been getting around
40 miles per gallon with it (5 gallon tank).
If you're seriously interested in the bike ... to ride or as a collector's
item ... I encourage you to come and inspect the bike or send someone who may
be in our area to inspect the bike. You won't be disappointed! Shipping
is at the risk and expense of the buyer, but I will help the winning bidder
in any way I can. Once the bike is paid for with cleared funds, I will
even deliver it, at no charge, to any place within 50 miles of
Also, I'd be glad to take more pictures of the bike. Just let me know
what you want, and I'll add them to the listing or email them to you.
If you have any questions about the bike, either email me through eBay, or
give me a call at 410-877-5529.
The winning bidder must pay a $500 deposit through Paypal, check, or money
order within 48 hours of the auction close, and the balance must be paid
within 7 days of the auction close. The balance must be paid by
certified check or cash (not Paypal). THERE IS NO RESERVE on
the bike so be sure to start bidding early and often. Good luck and
thanks for looking. Let me know if you have any questions.
