Harley-Davidson Touring description

2009 Road King Classic -- Vivid Black and lots of chrome plus extras

This is an exceptionally clean Road King Classic, it has numerous extra parts that are already installed and ready to go. The bike has ABS and Cruise control, it is a 96 cubic inch motor with a Baker 6 speed transmission. I have upgraded the clutch with a Barnett carbon fibre and steel extra plate clutch pack, I also changed out the brake pads with Lyndall Z+ Racing Pads to reduce the amount of cleaning on the chrome rims. I have polished rotors on the front and chrome HD Brembo brake calipers. I don't race the bike but just wanted great quality and reliable parts to ensure I can stop in an emergency and also look good.

This bike is always garaged and has a clean title with no damage or accidents, I own the bike fully so there's no finance or lien at all. I am active military living in San Diego and have used the bike mainly for commuting to work and some weekend coastal rides. It is serviced very regularly with fluids changed every 5,000 miles (I use good quality synthetic oils only).

Seriously, when I clean and polish the bike it takes me up to 5 hours, I play some tunes chill out in the garage and ensure I get into the tight spots to clean. . . I like to think of it as my therapy and my wife thinks I am OCD, really. . . this bike is in excellent condition and sounds great.

I will be posting overseas at the end of November and I have a US exporter from long beach ready to transport it to Australia. I also have full approval to import it to Australia, so if I don't sell it here it will be coming with me, (I would rather not pay extra for shipping, new registration and insurance and deal with the DMV in Australia).

The bike is registered to Dec 13 in California and I will pay for the next 12 months registration for a new buyer so it'll have up to 13 months registration, it has 30,000 easy going miles on it (mainly commuting on the highway).

Touring bikes like the Road King models can easily achieve many more miles in and are great for two up riding, this bike is comfortable to ride and with the Power Commander 5 fuel management system and Dyno setup for the bike it also has the power where and when it's needed.

I also have a set of brand new replacement wide white wall tires ready to go and the bike has the Kuryakyn phase 7 LED headlight and passing lights. The LED signal lights are all from Custom Dynamics and the rear LED tail light is a Bright Assed Light (BAL-1) that really does stand out at night and during the day. The BAL tail light is also easily re-programmable by using a magnet for different intensities and sequences.

I have spare filters, some sealed lubricants/oils and the original OEM parts that were upgraded, in addition I have a HD factory service manual and a Clymer touring service manual as well.

The additional and upgraded items are:

Stuck for a gift? Solution No2: Harley-Davidson merchandise

Fri, 09 Dec 2011

Next year marks a strange anniversary for Harley-Davidson; 100 years of the firm's merchandising operation. Yes, just nine years after getting in on the motorcycle game H-D realised that the real cash was to be found in selling accessories rather than just bikes. And they're masters of the art.

Donation of Photos and Memorabilia to Harley-Davidson Museum Reveal Glimpse of Early Days at Harley

Thu, 22 Mar 2012

Harley-Davidson Museum today posted on its Facebook page a selection of photos it received as part of collection of images and memorabilia donated by a former Harley employee. According to the Facebook post former H-D employee Bob Jameson donated “ two scrapbooks, numerous photographs, news clippings and other company related materials” for the museum’s collection. Jameson, following in his father’s footsteps, worked for The Motor Company, and in 1960 helped develop a motorcycle suited for use in the Vietnam war.
