Harley-Davidson Touring description

This original 1978 Harley Davidson has been stored for most of its life, always in enclosed garages. The 55K miles mostly came when the bike was operated by it's original owner and although passed to his son there is no documentation on what he had done to the motorcycle.  It was stored for many years and then passed to its third owner in 1999.
The original owner or his son had replaced the front wide glide forks with a springer and the third owner decided in 2002 to take the bike back to a stock look and had a local shop completely assemble a NEW wide glide front end complete with all of the original Harley Davidson parts, paint matched fender, lights and chrome trims and updated dual disc brakes.
The following items were also added to the motorcycle at that time; S&S Super carburetor with teardrop air cleaner and K&N filter; Riviera Engineering Pro Clutch and cables; Progressive Suspension 412 Series American Tuned Magnum adjustable rear shocks; Oil cooler and bypass valve.
I have the original shop receipts, and owners manuals, for all of these items and much more. Over $9,250.00 was spent on the bike at around this time. The bike was only rarely ridden and was then stored for quite a few years again.
Around 2010 the bike was purchased out of storage by my next door neighbor. He had the bikes mechanicals checked out by the local dealer before the purchase and it was given a clean bill of health.
The bike was used sparsely by my neighbor and once again went into storage in 2011 (last year registered till now was in 2012 and that sticker is still on the plate.
My foster son knew I wanted the bike but my wife was against it due to my age (pushing 70) and the fact I already have too many cars, truck and boats as toys. He figured (wrongly) that if he bought it for me as a gift she wouldn't make me get rid of it. It's for sale.
Since the bike had been stored for the last five years, and only occasionally registered or ridden since 2002, it needed some work before I even started it. The following items were just performed over the past month or so.
New AGM battery, drain and flush gas and oil tanks and replace fluids, new gas lines and filter, new rear brake master cylinder and new rear brake line and pads with new DOT 5 fluids. The S&S Super was dismantled and thoroughly cleaned of all dried residue and the setting were all put to "start here" per the S&S manual. The bike, although currently registered has not been ridden since I did the out of storage work so some fine tuning of the carb may be required.
The following items were added by my neighbor; New seat, new heavy leather saddlebags and a plug in battery tender.
EVERYTHING on this bike works perfectly including all lights and dash indicators.
It's "old school" but with electric start and disc brakes all around it's an easy and safe ride.
This bike needs someone to actually take it out and use it. Price is not set in stone but it is in overall really good condition. I have not polished or waxed the bike since it came out of storage, just dusted and washed it before working on it. There are the usual chips and scratches from use but the chrome is in great condition and the paint can be easily toughed up so some TLC should make this bike look really good again.

2012-2013 Harley-Davidson VRSCDX Night Rod Special Recalled for Loose License Plate Bracket

Thu, 25 Oct 2012

Harley-Davidson is issuing a recall on all Night Rod Special models from 2012 and some from 2013 because of a potentially loose license plate bracket. According to documents released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the mounting screws connecting the VRSDCDX‘s license plate bracket to the tail may loosen, potentially causing the plate to rub against the rear tire. This may cause the plate bracket to rotate as well as damage rear brake lines.
