Harley-Davidson Sportster description

I'm listing my 2005 Harley XL1200R for sale. The bike is registered until June 2014. For those of you not familiar with Sportsters, this bike has a carburetor and rubber-mounted engine. The bike handles great and is fast. I'm the original owner of this bike.

This bike is fairly stock; I've only made a few changes:

-Replaced mags with spoked wheels
-Mooneyes air cleaner
-BCM Willis Bolts
-Progressive 412 covered chrome shocks
-Biltwell Chumps
-Easyriders Japan Viper seat

I have other parts that I would be willing to throw-in that fit the bike: stock front fender, shortened rear fender with Sparto taillight, stock mufflers, stock chrome heat shields for header pipes, stock tachometer, stock mirrors, stock seat, Harley Sundowner seat. If nothing else, you could sell these items for spare cash to make any changes that you'd like to this bike.

The bike currently has 24,000 miles on it.

The bike is located in Long Beach, CA.

CASH - Local pick-up only.

Feel free to ask any questions you may have.

The Hydra-Glide name celebrates its 75th anniversary, dating back to the first hydraulic fork that was equipped to a Harley-Davidson, replacing the springer front end in 1949, while the “slash” fuel tank design, emblem, classic round air filter cover, two-toned windshield, seat, and cases, are all nods to the 1956 FLH. Vespa goes back to the future

Thu, 22 Nov 2012

IT'S been a while coming, but the gorgeous Vespa 946 - EICMA 2012's Best of Show - has finally introduced something to the two-wheeled world that our four-wheeled counterparts have had for a while.  I call this 'reverse retro-futurism' - the art of borrowing lines from models past and imbuing them with a sleek sense of future direction (as opposed to retro-futurism, the pre-1960s design trend of depicting the technology of the future. The term 'decopunk' may come close, but feel free to tell me if there's a more exact term.) It's what the New Mini and the New Beetle (both 1997 and 2012 versions) have done so well, and so successfully: building an all-new model as a tribute to a classic, something that's modern yet already timeless, with a widely-appreciated, inclusive aesthetic (and here we eliminate the Plymouth PT Cruiser from the conversation). The biking world is great at retro, indeed thrives on it, but not so good at adding in a taste of the 21st century.
