Harley-Davidson Sportster description

Thanks for clicking. Up for auction is a very nice 1986 Harley XLH883 Sportster Evolution- ready to ride. This bike was stored inside on blocks for the last 9 years and I purchased it as a retirement stay busy’ project. The bike is in great condition- both mechanically and cosmetically, 19,XXX miles, completely stock except for foot pegs and saddle bags. The bike has been gone through by a local Harley shop and given a clean bill of health- and some compliments. The bike starts, runs and shifts, tracks, corners and handles exceptionally well, the clutch is tight and responsive and the tires are in mid-life or better. There are no signs this bike was ever laid down. Recent work includes the following:

Tank flushed and cleaned 3X

Carbs cleaned and rejetted by local Harley shop

Front and rear masters and calipers rebuilt

Fork seals replaced

New primary and shifter gaskets and seals

New plugs

New battery

OEM seat- stored since new in 86

New speedometer cable and axle gear

New air and oil filter

New fluids

Key electrical connections/breakers cleaned/replaced

And other maintenance tweaks

The tank (stock with logo), a few places on the frame and the oil tank had a couple minor scratches which were touched up with OEM Harley paint. You’ve got to get close to even notice them. The chrome is in very good condition with very, very little rust.  Electronics, charging system, headlight and indicator lights are in great condition. The turn signals with stand-offs and wiring will be included but they are not mounted.

Needs: The rear wheel spokes could use some additional polish. The 2 primary cover access caps are scratched and could use replacement. If I were to keep the bike I’d polish the primary and chain covers and the heads, install the turn signals and do a little more touch-up on the frame.

I’ve driven the bike for about 300 miles around town and on the highways since getting it back from the carb rejetting and have been impressed how this 27 year-old bike feels and drives. I’ve got to throw in that at stop lights I’ve gotten a few endearing thumbs-ups’ from fellow Harley drivers. Being a stock classic, it does get looks.

Clear Minnesota title and tabs good through Feb 14. No test rides without cash in hand.  You will not be disappointed.

I will add additional photos in the coming days.

I reserve the right to cancel this listing at any time as this bike has been listed locally.

No low-ball offers, please. I know what the value of this bike is based on the condition, being an unaltered stock bike, KBB and NADA and recommendations from local Harley dealers.

Local pick-up in Eden Prairie, MN or the buyer can arrange shipping.

Zero Motorcycles Launches Dealer Network

Tue, 12 Jul 2011

Zero Motorcycles announced a new network of eight dealerships as the electric motorcycle company begins the transition from an online-based sales model to a traditional showroom sales model. Until now, Zero conducts its sales over the Internet with the help of a system of Independent Representatives around the country who use a handful of demo models instead of actual inventory to showcase the brand. As both demand and production have increased, Zero is ready to adopt a new dealer-based model.
