Harley-Davidson Sportster description

1979 harley  sportster 1000,

selling this for a friend please keep in mind that this is a 1979 iron head,
had a frame out restoration 8 years ago. complete engine and trans rebuild, updated wiring harness and charging system.
runs great, rode it on Sunday, starts well, charges well, runs out good and makes plenty of power, trans shifts nice, good clutch, brakes work well, all lights work. kill switch and starter button work great, chrome on engine is in good shape not peeling but is showing a little age.

speedometer and tachometer need cables and wired for lights to work, needs front turn signals. could use new handle bar rubbers,  fell over on trailer 2 years ago, chipped up paint on tank, side cover and front fender, seat is worn through on side please see pictures!

has a new battery, ignition switch, fresh gas in tank, carburetor and air filter were cleaned, nice tires, bike has been cleaned and detailed, as always it could use a little more tlc.

over all this bike is in good shape and is ready to ride home, #'s matching title and engine s/n, see pictures took as many inside and out as i could, if you need more please ask, bike is stored near by i can take more picture or show it any evening.

Church of MO: 1997 Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail Classic

Sun, 17 Apr 2022

How many 25-year old motorcycles are still being sold anyway? The Honda XR650L springs to mind, but other than it, it’s too early on Easter Sunday to investigate further. Granted, the Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail Classic has undergone enough changes as to really not be the same machine anymore, yet that indelible American profile, architecture, and riding experience remain the same.

Shelved Harley-Davidson Penster Tilting Trike Prototypes Revealed

Thu, 04 Aug 2011

The Harley-Davidson Museum has pulled the covers off discarded prototypes of a leaning three-wheeled motorcycle developed by The Motor Company. Harley-Davidson commissioned automobile hot rodding legend John Buttera to build the original prototype (pictured above) in 1998. Codenamed the “Penster”, the Trike looks like it could have been an earlier version of the Can-Am Spyder, but it had a tilting front end similar to the Piaggio MP3.
