Harley-Davidson Sportster description

Fairly rare, un chopped 1978 75th Anniversary Sportster, you don't see these too often. It has rebuilt top end & PB+ cams and electronic ignition installed. Matching numbers & I have all the documented rebuild paper work from last Oct and have clear title in hand ready to sign it over to you. New tires, gauges. Only 552 break in miles on bike and had 27,000 miles before rebuild. Mostly stock except for the exhaust which now has a 2 to 1 with wrapped pipes, seat, sissy bar, some chrome and shocks which are new progressives. My priorities in life have changed and simply would like to sell this to someone who would appreciate it and ride it as unfortunately I wont be. I have a lot more money in this than my starting $3,000 ($4,418 of combined receipts alone, please see the over $3,746 of receipts from last October, last pic in this auction), I have more receipts (over $672) for the boring of the jugs/guides/seats, XLCH K model luggage rack and the 2 in 1 exhaust. I need the room and I rather sell it at a loss than to keep it around. Needs rear return brake spring, at least the brake pedal does not spring back up. Stock anniversary rims could use new paint. 3rd time listing this as the first bidder bought it for $3500 but refunded his money as we could not get the shipping details straightened out. 2nd time listing my reserve was not met, highest bid was $3,000. I am now listing it at no reserve for $3,000. Be sure to check out my other Iron head related items for sale. Thank you.

Marlon Brando Estate Files Suit Against Harley-Davidson

Tue, 17 May 2011

Brando Enterprises, an operating entity that protects the Marlon Brando brand on behalf of the actor’s family, has filed a lawsuit against Harley-Davidson. The suit alleges Harley-Davidson used the legendary actor’s name without a license for a leather riding boot called “The Brando”. “It is interesting that Harley-Davidson – a company that is vigorously protective of its own brand – would seek to exploit an iconic property without benefit of a licensing agreement,” says  Jeffrey I.

Bonhams To Auction Wayne Pierce Family Collection Of Motorcycles Jan. 9, 2014, In Las Vegas

Fri, 04 Oct 2013

On January 9, 2014, during the fourth annual Las Vegas Sale of motorcycles at Bally’s Hotel and Casino, Bonhams, the world’s largest auction house for cars, motorcycles and memorabilia, will be auctioning off over 50 motorcycles from the extensive Wayne Pierce family museum collection, all offered at no reserve. Among the machines is a first-year Harley-Davidson Sportster believed to be the 10th XL883 produced in 1957, a 1933 Harley VLE police bike that saw actual duty on the streets of Chicago before being cast in the 1987 Kevin Costner gangster movie, “The Untouchables,” and an authentic and unrestored 1947 Harley Knucklehead wearing period aftermarket accessories. Wayne “Pappy” Pierce started his Harley-Davidson dealership in 1957, run out of a one-room tin shed in DeKalb, Illinois.

Harley-Davidson Hiring 400 Temporary Workers

Wed, 13 Nov 2013

Harley-Davidson is looking for 400 casual workers for its factory in York, Pa., to help with a planned seasonal surge in production. The jobs begin in January 2014 and will run through until the end of May. “When we ramp up production to meet customer demands, it allows us the manufacturing flexibility to build the right bike, the right time for the right person,” Harley-Davidson Spokesperson Bernadette Lauer tells the York Daily Record.
