Harley-Davidson Sportster description

VERY RARE

Sportster

XL-A

From 1970 to 1980 Harley-Davidson made six models of Sportsters

2G = XLT

3A = XLH

  4A = XLCH

4E = XLS

 7F = XLCR

                                    4D = XLA   (Military or Police)

Note; XL-A’s were made specifically for the military up to 1965.

Starting in 1966 the XLA was made only after special orders from Military or Police (Foreign and Domestic)

This is the reason 1965 were the last PRODUCTION bike made for the Military. (Only Military or Police could order XL-A’s)

This Bike has a clear Title and matching Engine and Frame numbers

4D52301H2

You can get information from Harley-Davidson about all their models except XL-A’s.  That’s because of the Governments confidential rules and regulations.

I was told by a reliable source that about 50 XL-a’s were made in 1972.  Some for the US military and some for the German Police.

This is a PROJECT bike. It does not run.  It was taken apart in preparation for restoration. I purchased the bike in a basket. I assembled the bike to show it as a whole bike and to be able to roll it around. The motor turns over freely but is in need of a rebuild.  Some of the parts are not correct i.e. I was told it has the wrong carburetor and the gas tank mounting holes do not match up. The whole bike is in need of complete restoration.

HOWEVER,

This bike restored it’s original Military or Police condition would be a great piece to add to a collection and would certainly be worth a lot of money.

When the bike was taken apart it had (and is recorded as original ) 15,342 miles.

An opportunity like this doesn’t come along very often.

SHIPPING  $595  anywhere in the lower 48 States except NY Bouroughs. (Add $300 to Bouroughs)

OVERSEAS BUYERS WELCOME

The bike is in Walnut, CA (Los Angeles County) and is available for pick up.

The Bike has a North Carolina Title.  Signed off and notarized by the original owner and my name on the reverse as the first transferee.

I have a very low reserve on this bike but I would sell it before the auction ends for $6,000 or a reasonable offer.

Mon, 23 Jan 2023

Streetbike for Asia and a Riding Academy bike for the US Harley-Davidson held its big 120th anniversary reveal last week, and for the most part, the announcement included the bikes we expected, such as the Nightster Special, and the return of the Breakout with a Milwaukee-Eight 117ci engine. What we also expected to come for 2023 but was not included in the announcement were the X350 and X350RA. Still, despite not being part of the big Jan.

2023 Harley-Davidson CVO Road Glide and CVO Street Glide Leaked

Tue, 14 Mar 2023

CVOs receive 121ci engine, new fairings and inverted forks Harley-Davidson released the bulk of its 2023 lineup about two months ago, but we’re still waiting to here about more models, such as the Custom Vehicle Operations models that will be joining the CVO Road Glide Limited Anniversary. We may not have much longer to wait, as videos of a new CVO Road Glide and CVO Street Glide have popped up on line, revealing some big changes to the CVO models, and perhaps a sign of what to expect for the 2024 lineup.
