Harley-Davidson Softail tech info
Harley-Davidson Softail description
Custom Harley Davidson Chopper I purchased this bike in fall of 2011 as a project bike. There wasn’t much to the bike except the frame, rims, front and rear fender, oil bag, seat, triple trees, forks, and transmission. Frame Pauhgo soft tail frame with 34 deg. rake. I took the frame and went through all the welds and touched them up the added two gussets to the backbone and neck. Frame was them sandblasted and powder coated semi-gloss black. Wheels Milwaukee Twins brand 18’’ rear spoke rim & caliper with a 200 Metzler 880 marathon tire. Milwaukee Twins brand 21’’ front spoke rim with a Metzler 880 marathon tire. Motor Has roughly 5,000 on it. I built this S&S motor from ground up. It started as 80 cubic inch and turned into a 90 cubic inch motor. The lower case is a 2001 S&S I ordered years ago but never used until I built this motor in January of 2012. The heads are used stock Harley ones that I purchased and then bored out. All other internal parts of the motor were brand new S&S parts. S&S super E carburetor. 1 ¾’’ LAF shorty drag pipes. 3’’ BDL open belt drive. I replaced the cam cover gasket about 2 weeks ago and took a picture of the internal components as you can see in the attached pictures. Only Schaffer’s synthetic oil has been used in this motor & only an S&S oil filter. Transmission Milwaukee Twins brand 5 speed transmission with roughly 5,000 miles on it. It came with the bike and the guy said it had about 1,000 when he got it. I went through the whole thing and found nothing wrong with it. I put about 4,000 miles on it. Forks Milwaukee Twins brand forks & Triple Tress. I put on new dual disc brakes and calipers of the same brand. These forks came with the bike. I took the forks apart and replaced the springs, seals, copper washers and bolts because I was unsure how long the forks had been sitting. I then used PJ1 fork oil. Sheet Metal 4 gal. one pc tank I purchased new. All other items came with the bike. As you can see from the pictures this bike has great detail. This is not airbrush painted. I took the sheet metal in and had them dipped with a process called Hydro Imaging. Look it up on YouTube if you would like to see how it is done. They sanded the sheet metal smooth, sprayed a primer then a glossy black base coat, then they dipped the items into a water filled custom graphic I had design, finally spraying with a candy blue metal flake clear coat. The only place it chipped was by the fender bolts because I over tightened them. All parts used on the bike besides the ones that came with it were purchased new. I have receipts on almost every part. Serious inquires only. This bike is registered & insured as a 2004 Harley Davidson FLSTF soft tail because that is the year of the frame but the bike was not actually completely built until March of 2012. Thanks for looking, Josh
