Harley-Davidson Softail description

2009 FLSTN- Softail Deluxe with many extras ready to sell at a bargain price!!

Female owned since 2009, this Softail Deluxe has a custom HD color, Big Purple Flake.

The following upgrades have been added to make this more of a long haul touring bike.

A Dead Center Cycles removable fairing was added at a $3,000 cost. The audio system is loud, with Polk Audio speakers, XM receiver ready to listen to your favorite station while traveling Americas roads. Or just plug in your Ipod and listen to your favorite tunes. The fairing has a lock on it to help keep it on your future bike and is easily removable if you just want to cruise around town.

This bike also comes equipped with a RevLoc automatic clutch. Allows the rider to come to a stop in any gear and the engine will not stall. Great for parades or just taking turns without worrying about the bike shutting off. The stock clutch will be included in the sale should the buyer want to go back to stock setup.

A CB radio is mounted on the handlebar in case you need to keep in touch with other club riders.

Detachable and locked Heritage saddle bags are out back to make sure you have enough room for clothes on your long journey.

A custom air horn will warn other drivers that you are nearby.

A detachable rear backrest will keep your passenger with you for the ride!

You can see your RPM's on a custom HD odometer that displays both MPH's and RPM's and a backlight that can change into different colors. The current odometer has 10,017 miles and the stock odometer was removed with 5100 miles.

This bike has never been in any accident or falls.

Buyer is responsible for pick-up. Paypal deposit required.

35 years ago this month

IT'S 35 YEARS since Evel Knievel attempted to jump 13 London buses at Wembley Stadium. Riding a heavy, slow Harley-Davidson XR750, the American daredevil had serious reservations about the jump, admitting the take-off ramp was too short, therefore limiting the bike's speed. But even though the plucky American knew his chances of pulling off the stunt were slim, he was reluctant to disappoint the 80,000-strong Wembley crowd.

Motorcycles at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show

Mon, 28 Sep 2009

Two weeks ago, I took a break from my regular duties gathering news for Motorcycle.com to fly to Germany to cover the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show for our sister site AutoGuide.com. For two hectic days, AutoGuide editor Colum Wood and I scrambled across the massive 6.2 million square foot Messe Frankfurt trade fair compound, running from press conference to press conference to get the latest on exotic sport cars, futuristic concept models and international unveilings from the automotive world. It was heaven for car lovers, but for me, it meant fighting my way through hordes of photogs, auto-journalists and car show models to get the first photos of four-wheeled goodies from MINI, Ferrari and Lotus.
