We rubber-mounted the engine to the frame for a more comfortable ride — no road is unfamiliar territory, no journey too far. And though riding a Sportster has always been a blast, we keep finding more ways to make things even more rider friendly. We redesigned the transmission so it shifts smoother. Take a quick trip through the gears and you’ll no doubt appreciate the near-effortless clutch. There’s also improved kickstand ergonomics — now the bike is easier to reach and lift. The pure American street machine just keeps getting better. Take a look at what just came down victory lane. The Sportster 883R model is back, cleaner and meaner than ever. Wide rear tire and fender. Staggered shorty dual exhaust pipes. Two-up seat with passenger pegs. Dual disc brakes up front. We stayed true to the authentic H-D racing look, available in three schemes: black on orange, black on black or black on silver. There’s a racy checkered-flag graphic. And check out the blacked-out treatment: satin black calipers, forks, air cleaner cover, handlebars and rear springs. Even the Evolution engine is cloaked in black. 2011 AMA Pro Vance & Hines XR1200 Champion Chris Fillmore
Tue, 06 Sep 2011Chris Fillmore of Oxford, Mich., has won the 2011 AMA Pro Vance & Hines XR1200 Championship. Fillmore ended the season on a victorious note, winning the 2011 AMA Pro Road Racing season finale at New Jersey Motorsports Park. The Bruce Rossmeyer/Geico racer finished the season with five wins and eight podium appearances in nine races in the Harley-Davidson XR1200 spec racing series.
