The original was light-footed and powerful, with no respect for any machine lined up along side it. The XL 1200S never lets you forget that. Just look at the low bars and blacked-out metal. Even better, try the throttle. The engine doesn’t feel like anything off an assembly line. We gave it a complete redesign last year, with higher compression, dual-spark-plug heads, hotter cams and a single-fire ignition. You get a ride to match. Cartridge-type damping on the fork. Gas reservoir shocks in back. Adjustable pre-load, compression and rebound. Triple disc brakes. Sticky performance tires. Can there be a factory hot rod?

The Hydra-Glide name celebrates its 75th anniversary, dating back to the first hydraulic fork that was equipped to a Harley-Davidson, replacing the springer front end in 1949, while the “slash” fuel tank design, emblem, classic round air filter cover, two-toned windshield, seat, and cases, are all nods to the 1956 FLH. It’s only 30 seconds but who’s to stop you from playing it over and over again? Now what would be even more amazing is if there was a dude riding that bike on the highway while she did that. What would be a million times more amazing would be if that dude was me.
