Harley-Davidson Other description
This 42 WLA is 85% complete - needs $2,000-$3,000 in parts to complete. Have sources for parts I have worked with for 25 yrs. Have a guy who does military paint markings for restorations.
I Have personally owned this 42 WLA since 1971. I rebuilt the engine myself with new cylinders, pistons, rings, main bearings, seal & gaskets. Engine is basically rebuilt to brand new. Went through and replaced the seals in the tranny as well. Bike includes a supply of new WLA parts I bought in early 70s from Dixie supply - these parts can be used to trade for others needed. Bike incl 2 manuals - 1 maintenance, tuning & adjustments type manual, and a photocopy of 1944 library of congress WLA parts book - shows exploded views of every section of the bike incl optional & winterization equipment down to the nuts & bolts. Originally planned to make a chopper out of the bike when I bought (1969 = saw Easy Rider movie) but then decided after starting to chrome parts (wheels, springer etc.) might make more sense to restore to military since my father had rode them in WWII. Used a paint akin to MP colors, not OD tho these bikes can be marine green, OD, white, navy grey and so forth. You can decide the paint when you restore it. Have 2 odometers - neither is rebuilt - rebuilt (to like new) odometers are available. Has not got a title - used "clear" in listing because was only choice made sense in eBay ad - will issue a notarized bill of sale to buyer. Once buyer /new owner is ready to title they simply take bill of sale & bike to your State patrol for inspection & then they will issue a new title. I sold a fully restored WLA earlier this yr & buyer got title issued - rules vary by State. My state issues title with notation "title in doubt" which converts to std. title automatically in 2 yrs. These bikes are great sounding & fun to ride - just sold restored one I had for $20,000...so you have a chance to double your money by having the fun of restoring this one. Don't pass up the chance to restore one of these military Harleys - or - YOU WILL BE KICKING YOURSELF FOR YEARS TO COME FOR NOT BUYING ONE. My old bike running - video - https://youtu.be/sXLxG5LCfho Bike is sold AS IS - buyer must contact me within 48 hrs of auction closing or bike goes back up for sale - no exceptions! Please - serious buyers only - call with questions (360) 923-2207. Transport companies who can bring it to you are readily available - you pay to transport. On Aug-09-16 at 23:12:48 PDT, seller added the following information: Forgot to mention - bought the wiring harness with instrument cluster new from Dixie - so wiring is all like new. |

Harley-Davdison Museum Opens Tsunami Motorcycle Exhibit
Wed, 24 Oct 2012From Miyagi Prefecture in Japan to Graham Island in British Columbia, Canada, to Milwaukee, Wis., the motorcycle tossed across the Pacific Ocean by the 2011 Japanese tsunami has landed at the Harley-Davidson Museum. The 2004 Harley-Davidson Softail Night Train owned by earthquake and tsunami survivor Ikuo Yokoyama is now on display at the museum as a memorial to those affected by the March 2011 tsunami. The motorcycle will be preserved in the condition it was in when Canadian beachcomber Peter Mark found it inside a cargo box that washed up on Graham Island in May.
Harley-Davidson Forty-Eight and Roller Derby? [Video]
Thu, 10 Jun 2010Canadian publication Cycle Canada had some fun on a photoshoot for its review of the Harley-Davidson Forty-Eight for the July issue. As Pete wrote in our own review, the Harley-Davidson Sportster Forty-Eight has a rugged, bobber-inspired look with its chopped fender, chubby front tire and underslung mirrors. For the guys over at Cycle Canada, the Forty-Eight conjured up a rather odd image: roller derby.
Gymnast on a Harley….Wow.
Mon, 23 Mar 2009What happens when you take away a smokin’ hot gymnast’s balance beam and replace it with a Harley-Davidson Fat Bob? It’s only 30 seconds but who’s to stop you from playing it over and over again? Now what would be even more amazing is if there was a dude riding that bike on the highway while she did that. What would be a million times more amazing would be if that dude was me.
