Harley-Davidson Touring description

The Switchback is essentially two bikes on one. It comes with lockable, sealed and quickly removable hard saddlebags and windshield to satisfy the need for the storage of personal gear and protection from the wind on the road at speed. Or not, with the bags and windshield removed for that solo biker image. The seat height is only 26.1-inches, the rider’s footboards are mid-mounted and the mini-ape handlebars are ideally positioned for a comfortable riding posture.

At 718 pounds, the Switchback is Harley's lightest custom touring bike -- and perhaps its easiest to ride. The 103-cubic-inch V-twin engine (also found on Softail, Touring and most Dyna models) roars to life on the first fire of the fuel-ignition switch.

The big fenders, mini ape-hangers and 4.7 gallon Street Bob fuel tank nestle the rider into a comfortable saddle. The transmission has six speeds, and shifts smoothly through all of them -- though you'll never need the sixth. The bike barely works up a sweat at highway speeds, and vibration dampens as the bike picks up velocity, thanks largely to the rubber-mounted motor.

California Buyers take note!!

My switchback is NOT California Emissions ready. Purchased in Florida prior to our move and shipped out west, this bike is 49 state compliant. DO NOT purchase this bike for California use!

This bike has minor scratches under the primary casing from a too-steep ramp on the moving truck.

Ebayers with a score of less than 10 must call 916-215-8543 prior to bidding. Otherwise your bid will be deleted.

Harley-Davidson Discontinuing Road Glide and Other Models for 2014

Mon, 15 Apr 2013

A leaked memo sent out to Harley-Davidson dealers reveals plans to drop several models from the company’s 2014 lineup. Slated to disappear are the XR1200X Sportster, the FXS Softail Blackline, and the FLHTC Electra Glide Classic. Also being discontinued, at least for 2014, is the FLTRX Road Glide Custom and FLTRU Road Glide Ultra, as the tourer models undergo a design refresh.

Airhawk Introduces DS Comfort Seating System For Dual Sport Bikes, Bikes With Narrow Seats

Fri, 16 May 2014

Airhawk, Inc., has introduced the DS Comfort Seating System, a cushion designed specifically for motorcyclists who ride dual sport bikes or bikes with narrower seats. Features of the DS cushion include a narrow front to match the seat profile of most dual sport/adventure bikes and bikes with narrow seats.  A tapered-down front minimizes unwanted pressure on the scrotum, and a heavy-duty hold-down strap system ensures a secure fit to the bike.  The DS also works well with narrow customized or aftermarket seats that have been installed for the purpose of getting the rider lower to the ground.

Top-Selling Motorcycles in US in 2013: Harley-Davidson Street Glide Special and Breakout

Tue, 22 Apr 2014

It’s almost automatic every time we write about Harley-Davidson that the company’s critics jump out to say how its bikes are heavy or assembled from parts bin leftovers or technologically decades behind its competitors. What these naysayers either forget or completely ignore is that Harley-Davidson motorcycles continue to sell. In its first quarter 2014 financial report, Harley-Davidson reported a 5.8% increase in motorcycle sales including 3.0% in the U.S.
