Harley-Davidson Touring description

This one of a kind and once in a lifetime opportunity to own the ultimate Boston Red Sox memorabilia. Every dollar matters” was the mantra embraced by broadcasters as they brought cancer patients’ stories of survival and hope to the airwaves, encouraging the public to open their hearts and wallets for Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund. The 19-hour WEEI/NESN Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon, held Aug. 26, 2005 captured the hearts of millions before culminating at 1:00 a.m. with gifts totaling nearly $2.4 million. Broadcast live from Fenway Park, the fourth annual fundraiser featured an all-star lineup of athletes and celebrities, scientists and caregivers, and patients and their families. Audiences tuned in to WEEI Sports Radio 850-AM, its affiliates, and New England Sports Network (NESN) and were inspired to call in their pledges to some 300 volunteers manning the phones and working  scenes. Gifts poured in from virtually every state and as far away as Italy, while nearly $300,000 was raised online.  Pitching in was a throng of personalities. Ben Affleck, Tony Danza, Jennifer Garner, George Steinbrenner and Curt Schilling, to name a few who encouraged listener support.   Four sports-themed events gave attendees a bird’s-eye view of the action. Among them was a kickoff auction event on the eve of the Radio-Telethon, featuring actor-comedian Lenny Clarke. The prized auction item was the exclusive Red Sox-autographed 2005 Harley-Davidson Road King, donated by Kelly Automotive Group President Brian Kelly and Kelly’s House of Harley Davidson General Manager Wayne Hathaway. Flashback about ten months to October of 2004. It was the baseball-crazed region of New England, where Red Sox players were force-fed history lessons on the generations of championship futility that preceded them. The constant cussing and mythical curses that hung over their head was about to be lifted. The heartbreak was officially over, thanks to a historic odyssey that arguably now earns top-shelf status as the biggest story in the history of Boston sports.  The entire culture of the Boston Red Sox changed Wednesday night, October 27, 2004 at Busch Stadium, as the tradition-laden franchise carted home its sixth World Series championship, but first since 1918. That’s right, the 86-year drought officially came crashing down after the Red Sox completed their four-game sweep of the Cardinals with a 3-0 victory in Game 4 and the World Series trophy finally could call Boston home again. Harley-Davidson and an American Hero

Fri, 07 Dec 2012

As motorcyclists, were drawn to the freedom two wheels represent; just man, machine and the open road. The feeling rings true today as it did 72 years ago, when Wallace Van Sandt, of Birmingham, Alabama, took delivery of his 1941 Harley-Davidson WLD Special Sport Solo, purchased new in 1940 for $365 (roughly $5800 in todays money) by his father as a high school graduation gift. The WLD Special Sport Solo was a ringer in its day.
