Harley-Davidson Sportster description

1999 Custom XL 1200. Just had $2500 makeover. Took 1 road trip since, app. 500mis. All final adjustments made accordingly. Original 2 tone paint/pintstripes. Some paint blemishes on top of tank. Fenders look great. Garage kept. Never wrecked Corbin leather gunfighter seat w/ adj. backrest. Excellent Harley Davidson tires. Numbers on digital odometer went out during make over. was 20,???. Bike 80% taken down, then complete rebuild. Engine, carb, clutch and primary drive gone thru/cleaned by mechanic. Engine was ceramic coated with satin black. Very hard coating. HD Screaming Eagle exhaust added. Compression test excellent. Carb set. Here most of the new parts installed in the pics. A new completely polished front spoke rim, Harley tank bra, and larger Sedicci tank bag was added after these pics. New choke ass., new braided cables, 12" Z bars, chrome control switch covers, custom polished solid aluminum billet hand grips, rear luggage rack, full engine chrome dressing accessories, highway bars, adj. foot pegs w/offsets, adj. floor boards w/offsets, (forward control mounts are original chrome, 1 side chrome is worn), chrome fender trim, new HD starter, front brakes, and battery. All luggage in pics included. Starts and idles great. Runs very strong. Easiest bike I ever worked on. Simple and easy to self-maintain. It by no means is a show bike, but it looks awesome for an obscure older bike. Rare color, and not many would customize an old Sportster. I just wanted this 1 to be a little different. Not asking a fortune, as awesome rebuild it is, it's still a fourteen year old sportster. Its really the average bottomed out price for any sportster in attractive condition, no matter what year it is. Solid investment if maintained well. Starting my next obscure project bike. stay tuned.

The four-mile Wisconsin circuit is a particularly exciting place to watch the middleweight bikes because its long straights and braking zones make passing and lead changes commonplace. More than just a test of man and machine, the races often develop into a strategic battle leading up to the all-important last lap and run up the hill to the checkered flag.

The Hydra-Glide name celebrates its 75th anniversary, dating back to the first hydraulic fork that was equipped to a Harley-Davidson, replacing the springer front end in 1949, while the “slash” fuel tank design, emblem, classic round air filter cover, two-toned windshield, seat, and cases, are all nods to the 1956 FLH.
