2008 Harley-Davidson Sportster Low XL1200L, There are only two features on this bike that differ from its factory set up. The first is a set of forward foot controls with Kuryakyn custom front foot pegs. The second is an engine guard that I hope that you will never have the occasion to use (except to mount highway pegs). There is a good reason that this model is called LOW . The riders seat sits just 26.3 inches above the tarmac. This is the 1200 (the smaller motor is an 883cc) model. It has standard fuel injection and a 4.5 gallon fuel tank. There is plenty of room for two and it will cruise smoothly thanks to its rubber mounted V-twin motor which also offers great fuel economy at freeway speeds. Shelved Harley-Davidson Penster Tilting Trike Prototypes Revealed
Thu, 04 Aug 2011The Harley-Davidson Museum has pulled the covers off discarded prototypes of a leaning three-wheeled motorcycle developed by The Motor Company. Harley-Davidson commissioned automobile hot rodding legend John Buttera to build the original prototype (pictured above) in 1998. Codenamed the “Penster”, the Trike looks like it could have been an earlier version of the Can-Am Spyder, but it had a tilting front end similar to the Piaggio MP3.
Best Western Holds Photo Contest for Motorcyclists
Wed, 08 Jun 2011Best Western is holding a new contest for motorcyclists to celebrate its 65th anniversary and the launch of its three types of hotels. The Best Western Ride Rewards Photo Contest is open to motorcycle riders and runs until July 15. To enter, riders must submit photos of their motorcycles in front of a Best Western sign from the chain’s 2,200 North American locations to the Best Western Facebook page.
Harley-Davidson Reports Q4 2011 Results
Tue, 24 Jan 2012Harley-Davidson reported a 10.9% growth in motorcycle sales in the fourth quarter and a total annual growth of 5.9% for 2011. The growth resulted in a net profit of $599.1 million for Harley-Davidson. The Motor Company sold 235,188 motorcycles in 2011, up from 222,110 units sold in 2010.
