Harley-Davidson Sportster description

2006 Harley-Davidson Sportster 883 Low, Sportster 883 Low - For decades, fun could best be defined as a potent engine sitting dead center in a strong, agile frame with nothing but miles of winding asphalt ahead. As long as we keep building and refining the Sportster, that definition will stay true. If you’ve never swung a leg over, you should. Once astride, twist the throttle and feel the V-Twin generate mounds of torque. It’s a satisfying rush that hits you right in the pit of your stomach. We rubber-mounted the engine to the frame for a more comfortable ride — no road is unfamiliar territory, no journey too far. And though riding a Sportster has always been a blast, we keep finding more ways to make things even more rider friendly. We redesigned the transmission so it shifts smoother. Take a quick trip through the gears and you’ll no doubt appreciate the near-effortless clutch. There’s also improved kickstand ergonomics — now the bike is easier to reach and lift. The pure American street machine just keeps getting better. When the 883L hit the streets, its low-slung style became an instant favorite. Credit the dropped suspension and low solo seat bringing your back pocket to just 26" above pavement. Combine that with a wide-stretched pullback handlebar and a nimble XL frame, and it’s a sweet ride, to say the least. What sweetens the feeling even more is the vibration-eating, rubber-mounted Evolution engine. It provides plenty of low-end torque to get you where you need to go in a hurry. But that’s not the only thing behind this machine’s popularity. The price makes sure the 883L is high on affordability. The exclusive graphic treatment makes sure it’s never low on style.

2012-2013 Harley-Davidson VRSCDX Night Rod Special Recalled for Loose License Plate Bracket

Thu, 25 Oct 2012

Harley-Davidson is issuing a recall on all Night Rod Special models from 2012 and some from 2013 because of a potentially loose license plate bracket. According to documents released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the mounting screws connecting the VRSDCDX‘s license plate bracket to the tail may loosen, potentially causing the plate to rub against the rear tire. This may cause the plate bracket to rotate as well as damage rear brake lines.
