Harley-Davidson Sportster description

This was a 2002 Harley Davidson 883 Custom Sportster built to be a track bike.

It has a free and clear Ohio title. It is registered (to me) until February of 2014.

It was made into a hard tail; there is no rear suspension. The gas tank is behind the front seat, which runs down a fuel cooling can next to the fuel tower. The NOS system is underneath the fuel tank. (Legal: I have disconnected the NOS system from the battery). The nitrous is hooked up to the horn button when running. There are no blinkers or horn on this bike. *The mileage is estimated, there is only a tachometer on the bike. There is no front fender on the bike. Everything that could be stripped for the track has been.

This 883 engine on this motorcycle has had cam work and other AMA approved race modifications done to it. It can keep up with 1200 HDs, (and others) off the line, but is light enough to corner with crotch rockets.

This motorcycle is not for the shy or timid, it draws a crowd at any bike night, rally, or just parked outside a store or bar. Be prepared to answer questions about it. The 2-in-1 pipes are loud, the sound alone turns heads. I have had a couple offers to change the tank and seats back to a regular Sporty, (which would not cost much- and the NOS system could be sold $$$), but this is truly a one of a kind motorcycle, and I decided to keep it as modified for the track. This will be a great bike for anyone who would like to keep it as is; change it back to a regular Sporty, or fine tune it again for the track.

I am listing this bike locally, and reserve the right to end this auction early

It is possible to negotiate delivery within 50 miles of Cleveland, Ohio.

Harley-Davidson's Production Stoppage Was Caused by Non-compliant Brake Lines

Fri, 29 Jul 2022

Production ramps up to meet year-end targets Back in May, Harley-Davidson announced it would temporarily halt motorcycle production due to a “regulatory compliance matter” regarding an unspecified part from a third-party supplier. Harley-Davidson initially estimated the stoppage would last two weeks but it eventually lasted 19 days before production resumed on June 6. The actual cause for the delay remained unclear some speculating the issue was related to the powertrains, as the stoppage only affected Harley-Davidson’s gas engine-powered motorcycles and not the electric LiveWires.

Owner of Tsunami-Tossed Harley-Davidson Found in Japan

Wed, 02 May 2012

Harley-Davidson representatives in Japan have identified the owner of the motorcycle lost in last year’s tsunami but later found on a remote beach in Canada. The 29-year-old owner, Ikuo Yokoyama, lives in Yamamoto, Japan, in Miyagi Prefecture, the region hardest hit by the 2011 Japanese earthquake and tsunami. Yokoyama survived the disaster but lost three family members and is still living in temporary accommodations.
