Harley-Davidson Sportster description

I purchased this one owner bike a couple years ago on the spur of the moment because I liked it's looks and low mileage.  I wasn't disappointed!  It was everything to the previous owner, but he had to sell it because of financial problems.  The bike is mechanically perfect, and it runs, rides, sounds great.  The battery is about a year old, and I installed a connector for a battery tender at the time.  I also replaced the throttle/idle cables with new S&S cables to compliment the S&S Super E carburetor, which is on the bike.  The exhaust is Vance and Hines, and the front tire has less than 800 miles on it.  I am selling this bike because I have three other Harleys and the insurance is taking a big dent out of my Social Security check. (I am serious!)  There are too many up-graded chrome pieces on the bike to list, but you can identify them in the photos.  The clutch bracket and the grip have scratches and a photo shows them.  The chrome clutch lever is just one of the up-grades.  Questions gladly answered.  I am also available to help with shipping pick-up.  It is a fine machine that will make someone very happy.

Fri, 31 Jan 2014

Billie Leo Standley died last weekend from lung cancer, but before he died, the 82-year-old wished for the world to know he was going to ride off to heaven. To accomplish this wish, Standley and his family made arrangements for him to buried in a Plexiglas casket riding his 1967 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide. Warning: A graphic photograph of Standley in his casket can be viewed on the Dayton Daily Times website.

Harley-Davidson reported a net income of $354.2 million over the second quarter of 2014, thanks to a 12.4% increase in sales revenue. Actual motorcycle sales volume stayed about even, however, with unit sales increasing to just 90,218 motorcycles from 90,193 sold in the same quarter last year. Though sales were statistically the same as they were last year, Harley-Davidson generated $1.48 billion in revenue from motorcycle sales alone, up 16.2% from the $1.27 billion reported in the second quarter of 2013.
