Harley-Davidson Sportster description

First, let me say this.

If you're an international bidder, or if you have less than 20 transactions on ebay, your bid will be cancelled unless you contact me first and convince me I should let you play in my sandbox.

I'm relisting this because some Filipino troll hit the 'buy it now' button with no intention of paying, just ruining the auction. So I'm relisting with no buy it now. If you want to buy it now, the price is $3625.00 and you'll have to contact me through eBay to make that happen. This bike is also for sale locally so I may close the auction at any time if there are no bids.

1977 Harley-Davidson XLH Sportster.

I bought this from a friend of the family as a favor after a death in the family. (not motorcycle related) It was an assembled basket case.
I went through the motor completely, repairing and replacing as necessary. Every detail was inspected.

New rear motor mount, stud holes repaired and studs replaced.
Cylinder heads rebuilt, with oversize XLR intake valves and professionally knurled guides.
New rocker arms
New piston rings-bores were .030" oversize and apparently new, but rings were either undersize or upside down.
Factory 'P' cams on all 4, properly shimmed to spec.
The transmission and trapdoor are apparently new, due to previous repairs; they are perfect.
New output shaft bearings and seal
Oil tank flushed, cleaned, new oil lines throughout. The old oil showed no metal, neither did the filter when I cut it open.
Crankshaft felt perfect with side-to-side and radial clearances well within factory specs. New wrist pin clips installed.
S&S Super 'E' carb and manifold-I use both O-rings and bands over the top of them, zero intake leaks.
New oil tank mount rubbers
Generator tested, reflashed, and output verified.
New battery. Starter works perfectly, strong and fast. I upgraded the wiring in the start circuit.
New handlebar controls, switches, and wiring. New ignition switch.
Tires are near new condition, but of unknown age. No checking or dry rot, and they ride well.
Front master cylinder is new, front caliper is rebuilt with new brake pads. Rear brakes are good. Chain and sprockets are good.
All the lights and turn signals work correctly. Starts easily, rides great. As all Iron Sportsters with straight pipes, it has a little annoying part-throttle hitch at low RPM. A thunderjet in the carb or muffler pipes will fix that.

I did not spend any time cleaning or polishing anything, my goal was to make this bike mechanically perfect and get it off the friend's back. It needs nothing but a rider. Paint is new, and kinda pretty. The chrome is 'patina-ed' but some people like that. Lots of room to customize, if you like your bits perfect and shiny.
If I think of anything else, I'll add it along.

I will assist in loading, whether your truck or the one you send. You find the carrier, I use Uship.com.

Harley-Davidson Confirms 500cc Model on the Way, Says Electric Harleys Not That Far-Fetched

Mon, 02 Sep 2013

It’s only been a couple of weeks since Harley-Davidson broke new ground by unveiling new “Twin-Cooled” liquid precision-cooling engine technology its new Project Rushmore suite of customer-driven refinements, but the Motor Company appears to have even more ambitious plans in the works. Speaking at Harley-Davidson’s 110th anniversary celebrations, Chief Operating Officer Matthew Levatich confirmed the company is producing a new 500cc model and opened the possibility of an electric Harley-Davidson somewhere down the line. We’ve previously written about Harley-Davidson’s plans to introduce a new 500cc V-Twin model for the Indian market.

Warlord Harley-Davidson Saddlebag Trays By First Shot Cycle Parts

Tue, 28 Jan 2014

If you’re the type who likes to stay ultra-organized, even (especially?) while riding your Harley-Davidson bagger, you might want to look at these Warlord saddlebag trays from First Shot Cycle Parts. While the concept of saddlebag trays is nothing new, the Warlord tray is well thought out. Dividers keep all of your small items where you can find them and not buried in the saddlebag. Each tray is lined, comes with removable dividers and all mounting brackets.
