Harley-Davidson Sportster description

         Here is a very correct and original 1972 Sportster XLH in excellent

         cosmetic and mechanical condition.This Sportster was entered

         in a Antique Motorcycle Club Of America national meet at Denton

         N.C.and received a first place award on May 19, 2013. The carb.

         was rebuilt the week before the show along with a new battery.

         This is a very sweet running and looking bike.This is a numbers

         matching bike (frame+motor)matching case half#s.Foil ser.# plate

         on frame is in perfect condition (super rare)

         NO CASE REPAIRS or welds of any kind.

         This bike had the original tires on it when I bought this bike 6

         years ago and showed very little tread wear but were dry rotted.

         Since I have no way of confirming the miles,this bike will be sold

         as TRUE MILES UNKNOWN.The last picture is the bike the way i

         bought it 6 years ago. Every part on the on the bike is either the

         original or restored original or n.o.s Harley except for battery+

         cover,clutch-cable+s.s.spokes.

        1972 sportster was the first year the XLH had the peanut tank and

        same seat as XLCH.I beleave that the 72 was the last year of the

        old school IRONHEADS.

In 1914 the city of Dodge City, Kansas held a motorcycle race, the Dodge City 300, attracting over 17,000 spectators. By 1921 there were more than 20,000. The race was held on a two-mile dirt oval and was sanctioned by the FAM (Federation of American Motorcyclists).

Bryan Smith edged out Kenny Coolbeth Jr. by a mere 0.041 seconds to win the AMA Pro Flat Track Experts Twins race at the Springfield Mile. The ten laps of the race saw Smith and his Kawasaki battling for the lead with Coolbeth and Jake Johnson and Jared Mees sitting close behind waiting for an opening.
