Harley-Davidson Softail description

This is a customized 2000 Harley Davidson Night Train. I have nearly $9K worth of custom work in this bike. The wheels and rotors alone are worth $5K. In addition to the wheels and rotors, the fenders, all of the lights, all of the controls, the seat, mirrors, and many other parts are custom parts. As you can see in the pictures, the bike has a gorgeous Vance and Hines Big Radius exhaust installed. It sounds great, but it isn't so loud that your neighbors will hate you (unless you really roll on the throttle). It has a 180 series tire on the back. The bike also includes a quick-detach windshield (the kind that leaves no docking hardware behind), a very comfortable Sundowner two-up seat (the rear fender does not have a mounting hole for a two-up seat, though; you'll have to have this done yourself). And the bike is lowered both in the front and the rear.

The front tire is brand-new (I had it installed 9/27 at Augusta Harley), and the rear tire is less than a year old and still has good tread.

The bike has a couple of minor flaws: the paint on the fenders is practically brand new except for a scratch on the rear fender (you can see this in the pictures). The paint on the right side of the tank has faded, but you have to get fairly close to see the fading. The check engine light will need to be replaced because it stays on even though there are no trouble codes. I had Augusta Harley Davidson check it yesterday, and they verified that there are no trouble codes in the bike's ECM. If you contact me, I can send you a video verifying that the bike has no trouble codes. The bike has been garage-kept and is rarely out in the rain, but there is some light rust around some of the bolt heads (nothing major).

Please keep in mind that the mileage will go up some since I drive this bike every day to work.

Serious bids and inquiries only, please. I love this bike and really do not want to get rid of it, but because I have a long drive to work, I need to upgrade to a touring bike.

A $500 deposit is required from the winning bidder within 24 hours. The buyer is responsible for pickup arrangements.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Shelved Harley-Davidson Penster Tilting Trike Prototypes Revealed

Thu, 04 Aug 2011

The Harley-Davidson Museum has pulled the covers off discarded prototypes of a leaning three-wheeled motorcycle developed by The Motor Company. Harley-Davidson commissioned automobile hot rodding legend John Buttera to build the original prototype (pictured above) in 1998. Codenamed the “Penster”, the Trike looks like it could have been an earlier version of the Can-Am Spyder, but it had a tilting front end similar to the Piaggio MP3.

Harley Recalls 25,000 2014 Touring Models

Harley-Davidson is acting quickly to address  potential safety issues by voluntarily recalling certain 2014 Touring motorcycles equipped with a hydraulic clutch system that may pose a safety issue for riders and/or passengers. The recalls include a Do Not Ride notice to owners and a Do Not Deliver notice to Harley-Davidson dealers until the motorcycle is fixed. “The safety of our customers is our highest priority,” said Tony Wilcox, Harley-Davidson General Manager of Motorcycle New Product Delivery.

2023 Harley-Davidson X 350 Revealed for China

Fri, 10 Mar 2023

H-D/QJ Motor connection finally bears fruit Harley-Davidson has officially revealed the X 350 for the Chinese market, a small displacement flat track-inspired roadster produced with Qianjiang Motor (QJ Motor). As of this writing, the X 350 is only confirmed for China, though a modified variant known as the X350RA will be used in Harley-Davidson Rider Academy programs in the U.S. QJ and Harley-Davidson have been working on the X 350 since 2019, though the motorcycle traces its lineage a little earlier to the TNT300 from QJ-owned Benelli.
