Harley-Davidson has manufactured nine types of engines since 1929:Flathead (1929-1974), Knucklehead (1936-1947), Panhead (1948-1965), Shovelhead (1966-1984),Evolution (Blockhead) 1340 (1984-1999), Twin Cam (2000to current), V-Rod (Revolution) (2001 to current), IronheadSportster (1957-1984) and Evolution Sportster (1985 tocurrent).Harley-Davidson recommends SAE 60 or SAE 50 engine oil for Flathead, Knucklehead, Panhead and Shovelheadequipped bikes. AMSOIL recommends AMSOIL SAE 60 Synthetic Motorcycle Oil (MCS) or 20W-50 SyntheticMotorcycle Oil (MCV) for these vintage models, while AMSOIL MCS or 75W-140 Severe Gear® SyntheticGear Lube (SVO)is recommended in the transmissions.Shovelhead is the only model with a chaincase that is lubricatedwith engine oil.AMSOIL recommends MCV for all three holes (engine,transmission and primary chaincase)on Evolution 1340and all Twin Cam engines. AMSOIL 75W-110 Severe Gear Synthetic Gear Lube (SVT) may be used as a secondary oil for the transmission, and SVO is an option for older transmissions. New seals are recommended whereexcessive leaking is evident.Ironhead, Evolution Sportster and V-Rod engines use one lubricant for both the engine and transmission. Brammo Hires Ex-Harley-Davidson Dealer Development Director
Fri, 10 Jun 2011Brammo has hired former Harley-Davidson dealer development director Jim Marcolina to develop the electric motorcycle maker’s North American dealer network. Marcolina was director of dealer development and dealer relations at Harley-Davidson after joining the Motor Company as a district sales manager. Brammo will rely on Marcolina’s experience working with Harley-Davidson’s dealer network to help establish its own fledgling network.

Tue, 04 Aug 2009Ever gone to take your Harley for a spin and thought "You know, I wish this thing had a couple more seats, infact no, I wish it had 10". Well, you might not have done that, I know I haven't, but one man who did was Steve Hopkins who built this bike using 7 Harley-Davidson engines some which date back over 100 years. To prove it rides, Hopkins and nine passengers hopped on the bike on Saturday to start the 900 mile ride from Wisconsin to Sturgis.
