Harley-Davidson Other description

 1942 Harley Davidson WLA Flathead
This bike came out of a barn in Utah, where it sat since the late 1950's, recently found in May this year.  The frame, motor, forks, transmission and gas tanks were found together.
It has original 18" front wheel and brake.  Also, it has original 18" star hub rear wheel.  I installed new tires and tubes.

It has original bates solo seat.  Pee Pad is not included!
I custom made the handle bars.  This is a perfect little bike set up for either racing on the beach or putting around town.

The engine runs.  I do not know what the inside of the engine looks like below the heads.  I pulled the aluminum heads to look inside the cylinders and they looked good enough to run.  I installed new head gaskets.  Rebuilt carburetor - it is an M51.  Also, has a rebuilt Joe Hunt Magneto. The bike fired right up and has been running for the last 200 miles. It smokes a little and leaks a little oil, nothing major, but what do you expect from a motor that has been together 60+ years.  There is no charging system, this bike is set up for racing.  No headlights or taillights.  The motor seems to be all stock.  This motor could be rebuilt into a little hot-rod, which i would recommend, or just ride it and have fun.  The engine and transmission come as is, no warranty!

Installed new primary chain and clean clutch assembly.  Primary cover has some cracks and is dinged up, but does the job.
Installed new rear chain.  I pulled the top of the transmission to see what gears looked like and they were runnable, so I installed a new gasket.  The transmission has one stripped thread hole where the kicker cover mounts, but it doesn't keep the bike from kicking over.

Installed new neck bearings and installed stock steering dampener and ride control.

Rear fender is from a hummer and front fender is a stock 45" that had been narrowed at one point in its life.

The frame is a 1942 frame and appears all stock with no damage or modifications.  Frame Neck #ZE-35T 5

Gas tanks have very old paint and are nice inside -
neither one leak.  They come with original emblems. The gas tanks are original 1941.

It has stock rocker clutch and original Harley floorboards.

The springer #TC-20TF18 - the front leg is a 1948 springer and the rear leg looks to be 1942, with nice old crusty paint.

It has matching cases #42 - 18647 - and there is no damage on either one. It has clear Arizona Title has 42 WLA vin# last 5 digits had been stamped long ago at dealer or by state since not all wla came with factory complete vin.

Feel free to email us with any questions.  We have lots of old barn find parts and bikes coming soon.
The bike is located in Phoenix, AZ at Love Cycles.
