1942 Harley WLC Bobber See video below! Here's a mostly as found 50s/60s style Harley flathead bobber. The TITLE and numbers on the case indicate this was originally a 1942 WLC model which is a Canadian military version. It has been "civilianized" at some point. Luckily it didn't get the 70's chopper treatment! The frame looks uncut except for a repair at the pogo seat pivot. The tanks are original 1940-46 Harley and do not leak either oil or gas. The engine runs well, but the carb could use a little tweaking. The carb is a very clean original Linkert M88. The engine doesn't leak except a few drops after riding from the cam cover. The tranny shifts in and out of the three gears and neutral, but when cold the clutch drags a bit causing engagement to be not smooth. Once you're rolling around it shifts fine. Probably time to clean or replace the plates or adjust linkage. The clutch does NOT slip. Tranny does not seem to leak and yes, it has oil. It has original star hub wheels although the WLC model would have had a different front hub and 18" rims I believe. It has a harley springer with a 1" stem and big twin rockers the rear leg has been repaired at some point but works as it should. The headlight is an old very cool "Scoot-lite" the tail light is an old and also cool do-ray. The rear tire is a 5.00-16 Grasshopper (Old and rare) the front is a 5.00-16 ARCO (NOS old and rare). The rear brake works. The rear fender is old and of unknown origin. The bars have a inline springer clamp incorporated, but are not original. The tool box mount has been repaired or replaced at some point but seems to be in the correct location. I put a brand new battery in the tool box and built a completely new wiring harness. Ignition, lights and brake light work as they should. The speedometer is a reproduction. New speedo cable. Seat is reproduction. Seat post and t-bar are original, t-bar has been welded on the seat interface for some reason. Exhaust is pretty ratty, but its functional and isn't probably going to fall off any time soon. See below video for more details This bike fires right up and runs down the road. That being said, it is a nearly 75 year old bike. It will need some dialing in, maintenance, repair or restoration. I put 7 miles on it tonight without a problem, but I ride a LOT of antique motorcycles, so what may be rideable to me may be sketchy to you. Some people like front brakes, some like new tires, I personally don't require either. See pics and video for condition. I will sell to anyone worldwide, but shipping is up to the buyer. I can help but you pay, you schedule. Buyer to pay $500 deposit within 48 hours. Remaining balance to be paid within 10 days of auction end. Bike should be picked up within 14 days unless other arrangements have been cleared with me. Sold as-is, where-is. If you are the high bidder be prepared to follow through with the transaction. Good luck and happy bidding! |

Pope Francis To Auction Harley-Davidson For Charity
Mon, 21 Oct 2013During Harley-Davidson‘s 110th anniversary celebrations earlier this year, Pope Francis was given not one, but two Harley-Davidsons, a 2013 Heritage Softail Classic and Dyna Super Glide Custom. Not one for gaudy excess (or a motorcycle ride for that matter), Pope Francis has decided to put both up for auction. Specifically, the Pope has donated the bikes to the Caritas charity near Rome.
