Harley-Davidson Other description
1936 Knucklehead Serial # 36EL2304
I've had more fun riding this machine in the past week than I have spent finishing it. Things that I will complete before sale is made: Wire the horn, add proper fuel line, add lug nut to front wheel, set up oil pressure feed line, and one or two punch list items. Description of bike: This bike uses the 36 Knucklehead V-Twin frame, and there are very few after market parts on the machine. Not all parts are the 36, but there are many high quality, original, unmolested, never painted parts that I have found over the years to complete this bike. The 2304 motor, fenders, fuel tank, and transmission, all came from the same machine, recently purchased in Texas. You might have seen this bike being pulled out of the Chopper Graveyard on Wheels Through Times Facebook Live video. Go to our Facebook page and check it out. I went right to work building this machine and it is now operational. I already have 7 1936 Knuckleheads here at Wheels Through Time Museum, and although I've used many great parts on this machine, I am going to part with it -provided that is reaches the reserve price. I personally rebuilt the engine. The lower end was complete with oil pump and cam cover. It uses 4 fin cylinders, and the heads are small port replacement heads that were like new. The transmission is a Ralph Camp -Ralph's Racing Rebuilt Transmissions. Ralph guarantees his work, and I will too. Electrical is all proper, 6V. It has a Dale Cashman rebuilt 32E Generator. The 2 post relay was NOS. The speedometer works well and was professionally rebuilt. Notice the mileage, that is how many miles I have put on the machine. If you look over all the patina on the machine, you will notice it all generally matches. The rear fender and fuel tanks are dirty and original, the Patina has NOT been faked. The front fender, and oil tank, I painted flat black and have done NO work to fake a patina look. They are what they are. Both wheels are 18" with step hubs. I put a new tire on the rear, the front tire is an old original tire. I recommend replacing the front tire if you are going to tour with this machine. The one thing I would like to add about this bike, -it is capable of any road run that you would want to take it on, ride it to California! I'm very proud of the engine work that I did. Ralph's transmission, as I mentioned is bullet proof. The drive train on this machine is perfect. It goes down the road hands off, although the old Flanders bars with original patina are slightly bent. All the parts that I used to build this machine came out of my personal stash. And as you can see, I used some really great parts. Any questions, call Dale at 828.734.9222 or museum line 828.926.6266. I would encourage you to come look at this bike personally. As you can expect, this is not an inexpensive machine. I have set what I think is a reasonable reserve, likely it will not sell on ebay. I will encourage interesting offers, and trades. Worthy trades are accepted. Also* Almost forgot, this 36 does have the proper narrow clutch which works perfectly. When I built the bike, I did not have an original narrow primary cover. I found one on ebay, just came in today. The bike goes with both covers. This bike does not have a title, it will be sold on bill of sale only, and must be picked up at the Wheels Through Time Museum in Maggie Valley, North Carolina. |
