Ducati Superbike description
I'm selling my 2002 Ducati 998. I've had the bike for over four years. It had 14,173 miles on it when I bought it. As you can see from the pictures, it is a beautiful bike and I have spent a lot on cosmetic stuff. The Speedy Moto triple clamp and the Hyperpro steering damper are the most recent upgrades but the bike also has lots of carbon fiber bits and looks great. Regarding mechanical issues, when I bought the bike I replaced the chain and the front and rear sprockets, I replaced the starter clutch, the clutch plates and clutch basket. I also replaced the master cylinder for the front brake because it had a slow leak. I replaced all belts when the bike had 17,620 miles on it. I put a new battery in the bike about a year ago. The bike also has a lightweight flywheel on it. I don't seem to have made a note about replacing the front tire so maybe I haven't, but it is in good shape and the rear tire has about 900 miles on it. I've never taken the bike to the track. This bike has so much torque it is unbelievable so I tend not to ride it fast since the torque is evident at all speeds. There are some small scratches on the gas tank that I cannot get to show up in a picture. Not a lot of scratches, but there are a few. 300 miles on the bike since the last oil change. The valves were adjusted by LT Snyder at Desmotimes in Pensacola at 12,000 miles. He says they don't need to be adjusted again until the bike gets to 22,000 miles. Please ask any questions before bidding. You can call me at 850-212-8864, but please don't text. I'll be happy to answer any questions and I'll meet a shipper if you need to use one. Thanks. BTW, IMO the Ducati 998 is the coolest bike ever made. Not easy letting it go but I'm going to retire from riding so time to say goodbye to my dream bike. (NOTE: Nothing wrong with bodywork. The middle of the bodywork is just picking up my reflection when I'm taking a pic, in case you're wondering.)
