Ducati Other description

2011 DUCATI 1198, The 1198 is a race bike, pure and simple. It is immediately recognisable for its purposeful, no-nonsense attitude. Performance is first and foremost in every detail. Trademark Ducati features like the high tail section and compact front end combine with twin under-seat silencers and single-sided swingarm to express the sheer engineering beauty of aerodynamics and agility. Add the 1198 Testastretta Evoluzione engine as the hearts of the machine and the result is all-out performance Ducati Superbikes that look fast even when parked. The 1198 features fully adjustable 43mm Showa forks, with an additional special low friction titanium oxide treatment applied to the sliders. The 1198 uses engineering solutions taken directly from the World Championship winning 'R' model of Troy Bayliss. From engine capacity and specification to advanced electronics, many details that helped Troy to the 2008 World Superbike title have been applied to the 2009 road-going 1198. Never before has so much factory rider feedback been put into production.

We’ve already reported on the Ducati 1199 Panigale’s domestic racing debut (and first race victory) but the 1098 successor has finally made its international racing debut in the FIM Superstock 1000 Cup. Barni Racing‘s Eddi La Marra captured pole position on the Ducati 1199 Panigale and led for the first six laps before the race was red-flagged after Team Brazil racer Heber Pedrosa crashed his Kawasaki ZX-10R. The race was restarted as a five-lap sprint.

Fri, 28 Jun 2013

Jorge Lorenzo underwent two hours of surgery earlier this morning in Barcelona, Spain, to insert eight screws and a titanium plate to secure his fractured collarbone. By the afternoon, the Yamaha rider was back in the Netherlands to prove he is healthy enough to race in tomorrow’s TT Assen. The reigning MotoGP champion broke his collarbone in three places after high-siding in a wet practice session Thursday.

Hayden rides dirt track (again)

Tue, 31 Aug 2010

So Nicky Hayden's signed for another two-years at Ducati. He must be chuffed with that deal, I mean it's not as if he's wowed anyone with his performances on the Desmosedici, but he is a grafter. And perhaps the perfect team mate to play second fiddle to Rossi?
