This 2007 Ducati 1098s Tricolore spent virtually all of its life in a collection stored in a climate controlled environment. It currently has less than 300 miles on it since new. It was started regularly but not ridden. It has full Termignoni exhaust system which creates a low rasping note that will send shivers up your spine. The timing belts has just been changed to render it essentially brand new. There are not nicks or scratches. It is in perfect as new condition.

So last season I spent all but the last round racing on a buckled wheel. How didn't I spot it, you ask. Well, I should have done and when I asked other riders about the weave at high speed the usual reply was 'They all do that, sir'.

When Valentino Rossi suffered a low-speed crash in practice at Sepang, he was in no mood to throw the towel in. Unfortunately for the 9-time world champ, he couldn't just get back on his Ducati, he had to fight off the marshals from pushing his bike to the recovery zone. 'Excuse me, do you know who I am?'
