2013 Long Beach International Motorcycle Show Report

Today the motorcycle press descended upon the Long Beach Convention Center to attend media day at the annual International Motorcycle Show. After feasting from a continental breakfast buffet the discerning journalists set to the task of reporting on the bounty of new model motorcycles – most of which has been previously showcased in our November EICMA reporting. The brief I gave to my girlfriend before packing for our little California road-trip was simple: “No hair straighteners, no high-heels and no hand bags!” So, I had to honour the whole ‘packing light’ thing too ...or risk a week of abuse. I picked up these shoes as I thought they’d double as decent riding gear for the Yamaha XVS650 and Ducati Diavel we had lined up but they also looked perfect for wearing with jeans when we’d dumped the bike and were heading out to explore the sights. They don’t feature any ‘real’ armour but they are made from a tough yet flexible canvas and they feature additional protection around the ankle.

2012 FIM Road Racing Homologation List Released – Ducati 1199 Panigale Not Listed

The International Motorcycling Federation has released a list of homologated motorcycles for the 2012 Superbike, Supersport, Superstock and Formula Endurance World Endurance championships. The list includes all the motorcycles that are allowed to compete in each of those world championships. Notable for its absence however is the new 2012 Ducati 1199 Panigale.
