Ducati Other description

Up for auction is my 1971 Ducati RT 450. I purchased this bike new in Rochester New York in 1970 at Eastern Racing Enterprises (dealer sticker still on rear fender) when I was a very young man. This is a very original bike that I brought out west in the mid 70's. The tank and fenders are original paint and the bike has never been restored. The seat is a new, made in Italy, exact remake of the original, additional new parts are, plastic side covers, complete exhaust system, rear Hagon shocks, and front Borriani rim, (over $1200 in these new parts alone). The tires are also almost new with very few miles on them and I have a Pirelli MT44 trials rear tire that buyer can have, not shown in pics. The bike is California plated and is currently tagged until 2017. The VIN number is a Ca "blue tag" assigned number since CA required a MC to have a frame number as it still does. The headlight and taillight work but I would not want to depend on them for much lighting, just like when new (led's would be awesome). The rear brake light switch doesn't work and there is no horn. The bike has very good compression, starts up with a puff of smoke, and then shifts and drives down the highway nicely. There is three front sprockets and two rear sprockets for gear changing from climbing to highway riding, its currently set up midway in between.  Other parts as shown in pics are: 3 sets footpegs (stock original, scrambler rubber type, passenger, and custom YZ450F mounted to Ducati mounts), original shifter (chrome Scrambler heel/toe on bike), xtra gas cap (just needs gasket), 6v coil not NOS, NOS point plate, homemade aluminum side covers,  original horn button, headlight rim, original handlebars, original coil wire, exhaust nut wrench, extra spark plugs and points.

The engine has never been rebuilt or disassembled since new and was procured from a close friend many years ago and has low miles on it. This is a used motorcycle that was purchased by me with my own money when I was 17 years old that I always took great care of, however this is a used bike that as a young man I learned how to ride and obviously learned how to fall. The gas tank has repair on right side from front fork hit and the front fender had a small crack that has had a repair done and is now strong as new.  Chain guard bracket disappeared many years ago and is really not needed. The gas tank inside was epoxied and is very solid and leak free with a very nice original gas cap with stock two petcocks.

This a no reserve auction that has no buy it now price so highest bidder will win this very rare, highly collectable street legal Italian overhead cam, bevel head / bevel drive motorcycle. How many RT 450's are street legal, original owner, and still around today in this amazing condition? This a perfect bike for vintage MX or Enduro racing, bike shows, weekend rider or for your collection? If you want or expect a new or restored Ducati this may not be for you. I have 100% feedback and have been a member since 2000, my seller rating is above standard, so you can bid with confidence. If you have any negative feedback as a buyer than email me first before bidding. Buyer to be responsible for vehicle pick up or shipping and I will gladly assist in getting bike to a shipper or deliver within 50 miles of zip 93225. Vehicle is garaged in Frazier Park Ca (near Gorman) and available for inspection or for free easy pick up. There is a $500.00 deposit required within 24 hours of auction end, balance to be paid in full before bike is unloaded. Please don't email me to ask how much to ship to Europe, you know where the bike is and where you are so please find your own shipping quote. The bike and box of extra parts are around 300 pounds. I reserve the right to cancel this auction if bike sells locally. If you have any questions I can be reached at 661-993-2098 7am - 9pm PST. Good luck and happy bidding, if I forgot anything I will add it to description.

2011 Ducati Monster 1100 EVO Review – First Impressions

Fri, 08 Apr 2011

Pete says, ‘Grrawarsnarlke grmble  grmble!’  He’s become a monster for this new Ducati. Salve, from Catania, Sicilia! It’s always nice meeting up with an old friend you haven’t seen in a couple years.

So that's why he's called RANDY de Puniet

Tue, 20 Jul 2010

RANDY de Puniet may well have just been ejected from his LCR Honda RC212V MotoGP racer during qualifying for Sunday's Sachsenring GP but that ain't gonna stop him from bringing one of the company perks with him to Dr Costa's on-circuit surgery. The Frenchman crashed during qualifying after hitting oil and water spilled on track by Jorge Lorenzo's Fiat Yamaha, after it spewed its guts along almost the entire length of the start finished straight. Following the crash De Puniet was whisked away on a stretcher with a suspected broken foot.

Milan Show: Cute little Ducati

Tue, 02 Nov 2010

Amongst the grand new models at the Milan show is this adorable Ducati Cucciolo, or as translated, Ducati Little Puppy. The Little Puppy was born out of a project for a small 48cc pushrod clip-on engine to be added to bicycles. The name Cucciolo is derived from the yapping note from the stubby exhaust.
