The 796 is situated between the 696 and 1100 models and combines the comfort of the first with the sportiness of the second.The bike weighs just 167 kg and is equipped with an 803 cc L-Twin cylinder, air cooled engine, which delivers a 87hp @ 8250rpm and 58lb-ft o torque at 6250rpm. The 2013 model features a new crankshaft assembly which uses a lightweight 848-type flywheel and has a 66mm stroke instead of the 696 s 57.2mm.The Ducati Monster 796 is built on a strong, but light tubular steel Trellis frame with aluminium rear sub-frame, combined with a 43 mm Marzocchi upside down stanchion fork, which provides 120 mm of wheel travel. Tue, 17 May 2011Leon Morris (Buildbase/JHP Ducati) took both wins at Round Two of the Rapid Solicitors Ducati 848 Challenge rounding out a very challenging weekend for all the rider and teams at Assen. The changeable weather conditions made for last-minute tyre decisions and tricky racing conditions as the rain came in heavy bursts throughout the weekend, leaving a number of riders out on track on the wrong tyres. Qualifying on Saturday was typical, as the weather rendered two of the three qualifying sessions damp, leaving only the early afternoon session in which all the riders posted a fast time.

Bayliss has made it quite clear that he wants to race V8s as the next stage of his racing career. He allegedly turned down a multi-million dollar contract from Ducati when he decided to quit WSB.
New MotoGP Rules for ECU and Factory Status for 2014
Fri, 26 Jul 2013The Grand Prix Commission released new rules for the 2014 MotoGP season regarding the standard electronic control unit and what constitutes “factory status” for manufacturers. Starting in 2014, the official MotoGP ECU including internal datalogger from Magneti Marelli will become mandatory. Factory teams will be allowed to program their own ECU software while privateers will be required to run the standard software.
