Every single component has been redesigned and redeveloped so now more than ever, form follows function. With any details detracting from the Monster concept being eliminated, 'less-is-more' also means 'less-is-Monster'. Less weight plus more torque equals fun-filled riding. Desmodue The engine of the Monster 696 is the legendary Desmodue, 696cc, air cooled, L-Twin engine whose 80hp gives it that unmistakable Ducati sound. Developed for an incredibly flexible power delivery, the 696 Desmodromic engine provides enough torque to exit the most challenging of corners. The impressive torque, typical of the Ducati L-Twin engines, will excite with every twist of the throttle. APTC clutch The APTC wet clutch gives a slipper type action that prevents destabilizing of the rear-end under aggressive down-shifting and also gives the extra benefit of a super-light feel at the lever, a great benefit in stop-start city traffic or during longer journeys. Ducati Temporarily Suspends Production after Second Earthquake

Ducati has halted production in its factory in Bologna, Italy after the region was struck by a 5.8-magnitude earthquake this morning. The earthquake comes nine days after a 6.0-magnitude earthquake in the same area in northern Italy, killing seven people. Though the recent earthquake was lower in magnitude, it has already claimed a higher death toll with at least 15 people already confirmed dead.

Designed in conjunction with the launch of the new Multistrada 1200 this great looking jacket can be separated with the interior lining usable as a stand alone windproof jacket. It’s good to see brands using mountainwear technology for things like zips and seamless stitching as it blocks out so much water and wind.

Ducati Announces Multistrada 1200 with D-Air Integration for Europe

Ducati announced it is introducing a special Multistrada D-Air model, what the company calls the world’s first motorcycle fully integrated with an airbag-equipped riding jacket. Working with riding apparel maker Dainese, Ducati developed the Europe-only Multistrada variant to use its existing built-in sensors to detect an accident as it happens. Within 45 milliseconds after detecting an accident, the Multistrada wirelessly sends signals to the Dainese D-Air jackets worn by the rider and/or passenger, activating their airbags to reduce the risk of injury from the impact.
