Let me start by saying a few things. This has been an ongoing project of mine for a couple years. Its done. I have started this listing a few times and not finished it because I wasn't sure I wanted to sell the bike. I did list it last fall. Its had 18 miles put on it since and other than that its been in my climate controlled basement with a battery tender cycled on and off bi weekly. Its been a labor of love, there is no question of that. This will be one of the longest listing I've ever written for anything because there is just so much detail put into the bike. An easier way to describe the bike is list whats left stock... The tank is still a stock tank, custom paint.. but stock shape. Thats it. That doesn't paint the picture of what the bike is...

A couple points to get out of the way...
1) I DON'T have to sell the bike, I have chosen to. I can pay the mortgage, my bills etc... NO URGENCY! That means don't message me with a ridiculous offer.
2) Understanding number 1, I realize nobody will ever pay what someone else has invested in a custom project. I WILL ENTERTAIN REALISTIC OFFERS.
3) I will not part out the bike-Don't ask.
4) UPON a Final Value (That means at the close of the auction) I will consider a partial trade of an 1100 Hypermotard.


The build started as a 2007 S2R100 that I bought and after 1200 miles I had an oil pump failure that caused crankshaft and piston damage. I never actually drew a line in that sand that I wasn't going to cross with the build. I just kept going.. a true snow ball effect. 

I found the statement "If I'm going to do (insert upgrade here), I might as well do (upgrade, upgrade and upgrade) at the same time.." The following details are the result of that concept.

Engine:

The crank was sent to Ben Fox for knife edging, balancing and polishing.
The flywheel was also lightened by Ben Fox.
Fast By Ferracci 1079 high compression big bore pistons.
Cylinders were rebored and Nikasil plated by Mellinuim Technologies. Melted powder coat (Common DS100 engine problem) was chemically removed and painted with a black hi-temp paint that helps dissipate heat.
The heads were also stripped of nasty melted powder coat. Send to Fast Frank Shockly for his magic machining work (port matching, polishing), recutting of over-sized Kibblewhite valves and valve guides (Both exhaust and intake) as well as race collets from MBP. Then professionally resprayed with vibrant gray hi temp engine paint.

Radical Ducati left side carbon cover to clean up the oil lines and wires)-Try to even get a hold of somebody there to buy anything!

Hypermotard oil cooler (sprayed with that same satin black heat dissipating paint.
Ducabike billet breather valve with the MH900 billet extension and lil K&N to make sure theres no blow back on the rear tire... I read that was bad. :)

The engine was rebuilt by my Master Tech and since the engine had 18K on it when I bought the bike, EVERY SINGLE, SOLITARY BEARING, BUSHING, O-RING, GASKET AND CRUSH WASHER WAS REPLACED. The engine has about 1700 miles on it now. Belts have been done (OBVIOUSLY). The engine had 500 miles on conventional 20w50 oil then it was switched over to 20w50 Amsoil.

Drive train:
Supersprox lightened front and rear sprockets. Gold DID 525 x ring chain with TPO Titanium counter shaft hardware. Titanium hardware for the rear sprocket flang from TPO.

Exhaust:
The exhaust is a custom one off from the wizard Hans from HMF in Cleveland. Its a low hung 2-1 to a Sparx Italian cone available from Motowheels.See also the Motowheels prototype "Retro" finned exhaust clamps at the head. Super cool. All Stainlessin mandrel bent. Slip fit like factory with stainless springs in 4 pieces.

Suspension:
The bike has full Ohlins. The rear is technically only listed to fit the Monster S4R, but the DU333 (list is @$1300.00 alone) fits perfect on the S2R1000 too since its all the same bike less the engine of course. It has an externally mounted reservoir and preload adjuster. The forks... WOW, The forks are from a 1098R. These are better than traditional Ohlins Road and Tracks due to the gold valving that ducati spec'd on these at the time of the build for the 1098R. Its currently set up for 170Lb rider.
Speedymoto custom made the complete triple clamp assembly (both top and bottom) for the forks and I then had it painted the same satin black as the other Speedymoto parts. All Titanium hardware on the triple clamp including the steer tube nut (that darn thing was $90.00)

The bike's handling is amazing!

Wheels:
FORGED (YES,FORGED!!) MARCHESINI wheels in satin black wrapped with brand new (8 MILES) Rosso Corses (stock sizing). 
TPO Titanium wheel nuts front and rear (all 3) and TPO Aluminum eccentric spacer.

BRAKES:
Brembo MONO BLOCKS for the front (EBC HH pads)
Brembo Superbike rear (from an 1198 just for the color match) with EBC HH pads
Custom Speigler Brake (and clutch) lines in smoked color
Brembo Radial masters from an 1198 professionally sprayed black
CRG (REAL Carbon) Carbon fiber levers
Rizoma Reservoirs front, rear and clutch)
Rizoma Reservoir mounts (seems silly to mention them but they are like $50.00 each!)
OEM Rear rotor (who even uses the rear brake on a Ducati) with Titanium bolts (because why not at this point)
OEM 848 Evo 320mm Brembo front rotors (because the mono blocks are complete over kill anyway)-You could easily go to 330mm from 1098/1198 if you wanted but its not at all needed.

Hand Controls:
Speedymoto clip-ons (sprayed black to match all the other speedymoto stuff and s not to fade) with (REAL) carbon fiber handle bars.
Oberon Streetfighter bar end mirrors (The only small bar end mirrors I found that are actually functional) sprayed black also.
Throttle housing from a 748 with fast idle switch. Explanation: With the airbox removal, the factory stepper motor is no longer functional and with the high compression pistons, the bike was not as easy to start as it once was when stock. This little addition makes starting her on a cold day far easier.
Throttle tamer throttle tube-makes getting around a crowded parking lot much easier.

Foot Controls:
OEM S2R1000 Rearsets powder coated black with machined 1098R footpegs I just never liked any offerings in rearsets from the aftermarket manufacturers and the stock ones are well placed.

Paint, body and frame:
The fine metallic gray I chose was an oem Ducati color found only on the belly of the Diavel. The gold pinstripe on the tank was done by hand. The tank is an original. It was repainted and Scott at SR Sign Design (check him out-does some amazing work on some AMA racers bikes) made me the oversized tank decals that are under the clear coat. 

The seat cowl is hand rolled aluminum that mounts to the factory location on the seat. Its a one custom..NOT FIBER-GLASS! Retro gold "Ducati and Meccanica decals also under the clear.The seat is also a one off that I had done to get that retro look. The top is a medium tach to keep you in place untilyou want to more while the sides are a high tach so you have something to grab with your legs. Red stitching matches the red in the tank decal.

Front and Rear Huggers are from Carbon Dream-Simply the best carbon EVER made for Ducati. They were over $900.00 for the pair and I had them both clear coated with UV resistant clear coat so the will NEVER FADE. The front was originally made for the MH900. The MH900 mounting hoop was modified to work on the modern Ohlins and sprayed high gloss black to match the section on the tank. Trear hugger was originally for this bike.

The swing arm and rear shock linkage was powder coated satin black all hardware was replaced with new TPO Titanium hardware, even the pinch bolts in the swing arm.

The frame was modified: Rear passenger peg mounts were shaved off, other useless tabs shaved off and a cafe racer style hoop was added to the rear of the frame that houses internal wiring for the frame mounted turn signal and Radical Ducati/South Garage Cafe inspired LED tail light. The turn signal mounts are threaded into the frame to keep it super clean back there. The whole frame was sanded smooth and sprayed high gloss black. Vin number very legible. ACE Cafe beer token on left side of frame...

Lighting & Electronics:
The headlight is a piece offered by Motowheels for the Sport 1000. its be resprayed satin black to match the rest of the bike and fitted with a 6K HID kit. MUCH better lighting than stock!
Turnsignals are sprayed gloss black they are a micro LED bullet from those awesome guys in Austin,Texas-Revival Cycles. CRAZY BRIGHT!!! I have just a small set of micro led on the back, but the bike will come with a matching set to the front. The front mounts are from Maundspeed and were originally intended for the relocation of the rear signal for the Triumph Bonneville. They just suited exactly what I wanted though.

I had a custom plate made to flip the regulator/rectifier upside down to get more air for cooling. Seen under the seat.

Also, the coils are new. I just had a set of new ones.. why not, right? Magnecore HD performance plug lines and new NGK Maraj plugs ($30.00 each!)

ECU-The ecu was reflashed with the DP RACE mapping for the S2R1000 and had the immobilizer as well as the Oxygen sensor bypassed. This also allows for the trimmer adjustment. Having the immobilizer bypassed negates the whole red key issue. You can now make as many $2.00 replacement keys as you wish from lowes, home depot etc. The yellow light on the dash still blinks as though the immobilizer is working. Afterall, if someone wants to steal this bike, him and 2 of his buddys can carry it away anyhow. Really, if you park this bike someplace where it would be stolen, you didn't deserve it anyway.

The final bit of tuning was done by a power commander IV. No off the shelf mapping here. It was a complete custom map done on my dynojet 250.

Gauges... I decided that I wanted to use the white faced Sport 1000 gauges from a sport 1000s  (full fairing model) with the low profile mount. I had a custom billet bracket made so I didn't have to have that bulky stock housing on my gauges. It shows like 200 miles or so.. For those of you in a state with inspections, the original gauges with accurate mileage (based on the title) are included and can be plugged right back in within a couple minutes.

I'm pretty sure I have the oem stock cams and some other misc parts as well as HUNDREDS of pics taken at various stages of the build. The bike has a couple awards and has been the topic of a couple magazine articles as well.

NOTE: The throttle body assembly was replaced under the federal emissions warranty a couple years ago and is almost new. Less than 2K miles.

POWER YOU ASK!? Ok then...Lecture time. A dyno is a tool to measure with-Most of us know that. No two will be the same. A stock S2r1000 at the wheel will be about 74-76 HP on my dyno. (for comparison Monster 1100 shows @82 on my dyno) My bike made 93 hp. Could I get more out of it? Sure. The exhaust was made for looks and style. A longer system with a  larger diameter will get you close to 100hp. (or just try a different Dyno : ) ) If I wanted big power, I'd get a different bike. This is a custom bike purpose built because someone told me Cafe Racers had to be old stuff and it couldn't be done with a modern bike. Also recognize this thing is well under 350 LBS!

The bike was built 100% by Northern Ohio Ducati & Triumph excluding the crank work, head work and paint as we are just not set up for that stuff and prefer to leave it to those who are the best at it. Ben Fox and Fast Frank are wizards,

You might not agree with my buy it now price for this bike. To that I'll say its prolly not the right bike for you. Even at my dealer cost, I'm taking a big hit to sell it at that price. Make me a real offer if you think its right.

















 Just a small note. I presumed that most people looking at the bike would be well versed in Ducati parts and accessories. I've had a few emails about value. No exaggeration, if someone wanted to replicate the bike as it sits, it would cost close to $35,000.00. Obviously I'm at a dealership so I don't have quite that in it, but to give a few examples of what some of the parts cost to clarify whats been done to the bike:


The Forged Marchesini wheels list for $4000.00 for the set
The OEM Ohlins from the 1098R $5600.00
The Mono block front brake calipers are $760.00 EACH
The NCR Cams $1200.00
The NCR Carbon Valve covers are $700.00 for all 4.

I have entertained a couple offers but nothing that really makes me consider the massive loss that I will inevitably be taking to sell the bike. I accept that a hobby is exactly that and rarely are hobbies profitable. My Taste my not be your taste. There were no corners cut on this. Please let me know if you have any further questions!

My long-term Fireblade went back to Honda last week and, seeing as it’s sunny and mild outside now, I’m already missing it. It is one of the best 1000cc sports bikes out there, I don’t care what anyone else says, the way it makes its power is just perfect for fast road use. With the Power Commander 5 fitted and the fuelling sorted my 2011 Blade performed as well if not better than the 2012 version.

Ducati North America announced  a 61% increase in sales over the second quarter of 2011 compared to the same period in 2010. Following the 68% increase reported from the first quarter, Ducati can claim four consecutive quarters of year-on-year increases in North America. Over the first six months of 2011, Ducati‘s North American sales are up 63% from the first half of 2010, with over 5,200 new motorcycles registered.

Take one Ducati Desmosedici 200+hp engine and put it into a super lightweight NCR chassis and you’ll quite possibly have the world’s fastest and most powerful motorcycle. At 145kg dry weight it’s lighter (even) than a MotoGP bike… The 989cc V4 produces a staggering 200hp @13.800rpm and 116Nm @10.500rpm. We’re going to have a chat with Michele Poggipolini of NCR about this bike, but we strongly suspect it’s a one off special.
