2002 Ducati Monster S4, Awesome 4 valve liquid cooled beast! 916 motor, excellent condition, great sounding exhaust! - The Monster S4 is the “bad boy” of the Monster family. The equation was simple: make the most powerful, best handling Monster ever. The liquid cooled 916 cc Desmoquattro fuel injected L-Twin is derived directly from our World Superbike champion race bikes. The big bore / short stroke design of the engine delivers tractable power over the widest rpm range, so you’re “on the gas sooner” and shift less. Combining 100+ horsepower and light weight (423 lbs.) results in an inspiring power-to-weight ratio while a close ratio gearbox adds to the excitement. The S4’s handling is just as impressive as its power. The lightweight Superbike derived trellis frame ensures confidence in the turns. The suspension features fully adjustable front forks and rear shock. The rising rate, ride height adjustable rear suspension includes an aluminum swingarm, lowering “unsprung weight” and improving damping control. A fat 180/55 ZR 17 rear tire and a 120/70 ZR 17 front are mounted on super light Marchesini five spoke wheels. Guintoli and Crew Quits Liberty Racing Team Ahead of Home WSBK Race
Thu, 19 Jul 2012World Superbike rider Sylvain Guintoli has left the Effenbert Liberty ahead of the team’s home round in Brno, Czech Republic. Guintoli and members of his pit crew walked off the job, reportedly in a dispute over overdue pay cheques. Liberty Racing initially released a statement calling the crew’s departure as a “defection” born from a “misunderstanding between the mechanics and the administrative management of the team”.
Piaggio Opening New Design Center in US
Wed, 14 Mar 2012Piaggio announced it is opening a new design center in Pasadena, Calif., to be headed by Aprilia RSV4 designer Miguel Galluzzi. Roberto Colaninno, chairman and chief executive officer of the Piaggio Group, announced plans for the new Advanced Design Center at a dealer convention for the Piaggio Group Americas in Miami, Fla. At the moment, North American customers usually have to wait a little longer before they receive new Piaggio models, with most models arriving on these shores months after they are available in Europe.
848 Challenge official race report: Assen
Wed, 23 May 2012Robbie Brown shared the race wins with a resurgent Darren Fry at Round Two as the Ducati 848 Challenge visited the Assen TT circuit, the first of its two overseas rounds this year.Championship leader Brown (Ducati Manchester) was on imperious form all weekend, but Fry (Hirebase/JHP Racing), still not back to full fitness following an illness that left him in doubt about riding this year, put in a performance that was reminiscent of the form that took him to the Challenge title in 2010.With a win and a second place this weekend Brown extended his lead at the top of the table, but in also picking up a win and second Fry is back in the game in second with six rounds still to go. Sam Coventry (Moto Rapido), new to the Challenge this season and quickly getting back up to speed racing a twin after his year away in Spanish CEV championship, bagged third in both races to leapfrog to third in the championship.A number of other riders were able to put in solid performances over the two dry race days to do themselves no harm in the championship; in particular Jack Keen (Team Havoc Racing) with a fourth and fifth, and another championship newcomer Sean Neary (MotoCorse UK Racing) who scored a seventh and sixth.Race 1 was something of a dramatic affair with a number of fallers on the first lap, including front-runners Mike Edwards (OHLINS@P&H Motorcycles), Mark Cheetham (Hunt Pie Machines) and James Folkard (Win43.com) who came together at the first left-hander while battling for second place behind Brown. That left Coventry and Fry a clear track to chase down Brown, with Keen and Ed Smith (Ultim8 Racing) pushing hard through the field to close the gap.
