Ducati Superbike description

Up for sale is my red 2009 Ducati 848.  I'm the original owner with a clean and clear title in hand.  The bike has never been crashed but it did fall over in my driveway while being backed out of the garage. (doh!)  This resulted in a minor scuff on the right hand mirror, bar end, and fairing.  There is also a small scuff on the rear of the tank from the jacket rubbing which would be covered with a tank pad if you chose to put one on. Included with the bike is a Ducati Performance carbon fiber tank pad.  All of these areas are fairly minor and difficult to photograph.

The bike has a few modifications.  Installed is a Ducati rear seat cowl cover and the factory seat is included. The bike has a competition werkes fender eliminator kit, lithium ion battery, billet aluminum quick turn throttle tube, renthal grips, Pazzo shorty levers, K&N filter, stainless steel QD headers and stainless steel competition werkes slip-on mufflers.  They are loud.  Important to note about these mufflers is that these are one of only 6 or 7 custom narrow sets produced around 2010.  Standard competition werkes slip-ons are set very far apart while these are tucked in and clean up the rear of the bike significantly.  Uninstalled but included with the bike is a 520 chain conversion kit with chain, sprockets, quick change carrier and carrier hub.  While not a modification, the bike is factory equipped with Marchesini aluminum wheels.  As a cost cutting measure in mid 2009 Ducati switched to Enkei wheels.  My bike happened to be the only 2009 fitted with the Marchesinis on the dealer floor and was a chief reason why I purchased this one.

Now for the disclaimers.  While the bike is 100% legal, registered, insured and roadworthy I will not allow the bike to be test ridden, no exceptions.  I'm not interested in trades (trying to cut back on the toys) and arranging shipping if necessary is on you.  I reserve the right to end the auction at any time as the bike is listed for sale locally.  I will accept cash, certified checks or personal checks pending clearance from my bank.  I'm available most evenings to show the bike and encourage you to email me any questions you have.

Happy Holidays from Nicky Hayden and Ducati Corse

Thu, 23 Dec 2010

Twas a few days before Christmas when all through the house, not a creature was stirring … except for Nicky Hayden. The Kentucky Kid dropped by Ducati’s head office in Bologna, Italy, but when he arrived, there was no one to be found. No, it wasn’t because of one of those month long holidays Italians are known for.

The quietest Panigale in the world

Tue, 07 Aug 2012

For 1199 Panigale to be eligble in Japan, Ducati have had to make it quieter by adding a longer exhaust and a different clutch cover to pass noise tests. The exhaust adds 4kg to the overall 164kg weight, it also requires a unique Japan-only engine mapping. Further dampening the sound is a plastic clutch cover that extends up to cover the rear cylinder.

EBR 1190 Wins 2011 European Superbike Championship

Wed, 02 Nov 2011

Harald Kitsch and the Pegasus Race Team has won its second championship on the EBR 1190RR, capturing the 2011 European Superbike open race class title. The championship follows Kitsch’s win in the 2010 Sound of Thunder V-Twin Championship on the Erik Buell Racing racebike. While the Sound of Thunder championship was won against other V-Twin machines, the European Superbike class included sportbikes from the Japanese Big Four, BMW, Aprilia and Ducati.
