Ducati Superbike description

Up for auction is my 1993 Ducati 888 SPO.

a little history: I bought it in 2000 with 5660mi on the clock- because i'd always lusted after the 888 -from the moment i first saw one.  It is the most beautiful, well proportioned motorcycle ever, IMHO.  I did not ride it much, as it was more a work of art.  In 2011, it started to lose power and so took it to Moto Course in Ft. Lauderdale -and paid over $5,000 for a complete shake down (receipt included in sale).   In 2012, i had a MAJOR dirtbike accident and came close to losing my left leg.  I was flat on my back for about a year and spent another two years learning how to walk again...  so the 888 again, did not see much use.

Now its 2016- and I uncovered her, checked the tank, fuel pump, injectors, put a new battery and fresh gas (yes, bike was drained completely before storage)... and she fired right up.  Idles and runs like a champ.   Did a thorough detail, a fresh coat of wax on all panels- and now I have to put her up for sale.

Despite the fact that it is literally the meanest, best, most visually gripping bike ever designed, its time to let it go.  I just dont feel comfortable riding anymore -and i'm moving to a place where there are predominantly dirt roads.

The bike is solid- but lets get nit-picky:   there are three good stone chips (which i photographed) that bother me.  They are about 1-1.5mm in diameter.  One on the front, one on the side under the left turn signal, and one on the tank (which was NOT there before it went to Moto Corse).  But again, these are really small...  i'm just being picky.

The chin has light stone chipping, (-ive definitely seen a lot worse).  Previous owner did drop it...  lightly -from telltale marks that i can see.  Dash board (particularly fragile piece) had some hairline cracks which the previous owner stopped with a .5mm drill. (He drilled a tiny hole at the end of the crack to keep it from propagating.)

Tank had some light rust when it went to Moto Corse -and they shipped it off to have it professionally lined.  -and man, did they do a good job!  This is not your backyard-Kreem job.  Very well done...  and photos included.  Fuel pump new, perfect.  Battery, new -fork seals, tires, new....   she is literally- Ready to Ride.

Bike comes with PitBull stand and all the stock parts -stock cans, clutch cover, etc.

Ive posted quite a few photos and have tons more that I can send to a prospective buyer.  If I missed anything, please ask and I'll be happy to answer any questions or photograph anything exactly.  Local pickup is preferred, but delivery expense and arrangements are entirely on the purchaser.  $500 deposit is needed within 48hrs of auction close.

For the beauty, rarity, lineage and condition- the opening bid on this is quite low...  and NO RESERVE, so someone is going to get a heck of a good deal.  I do reserve the right to pull the auction at any time -as it is for sale locally.  So bid early to let me know there is interest.

Thanks for looking, Happy eBaying, and again- any questions?  -I'm happy to answer.

Ducati Strada Tech jacket

Sat, 01 May 2010

Most of you will know that Dainese design make most of Ducati’s top class performance wear and this new jacket is no exception. Designed in conjunction with the launch of the new Multistrada 1200 this great looking jacket can be separated with the interior lining usable as a stand alone windproof jacket. It’s good to see brands using mountainwear technology for things like zips and seamless stitching as it blocks out so much water and wind.

World Superbike to Raise Price Cap on Production Race Bikes

Fri, 21 Oct 2022

Now we know why the Panigale V4 R launch was delayed a week When Ducati revealed the 2023 Panigale V4 R last week, we raised an eyebrow when we saw its $44,995 price tag. As we noted in our First Look article, this exceed the price cap to be eligible for World Superbike racing. According to 2022 regulations, sport production machines were capped to a price of €40k, and the previous Panigale V4 R fit snugly below that price cap.
