Ducati Other description

This is a 2008 Sport Classic 1000s Biposto. Never dropped, scratched, wrecked, etc. kept in climate-controlled garage, never ridden in the rain or temps over 95, never parked out in the sun for hours, original tires are still on the bike and in great shape.  The bike has 1,957 miles on it. In my humble opinion this is one of the rarest versions of an already rare bike, next to the Paul Smart of course. Don’t be fooled by the GT1000, which is not the same bike. The Sport Classic was only built for 3 years, and this is one of the only versions that would have a red frame. If I am correct you had to have a Red biposto “S” model to get the red frame. Monopostos and naked versions had the black frame. Not sure how many were made, but there can’t be that many.

I am the second owner of this bike. I purchased it in July 2010 with only 400 miles. The original owner was an older gentleman who had several Ducati's but needed to sell. The deal was brokered through Skagit Power Sports in Washington where the bike was originally purchased. Skagit also installed the termi’s, ECU, and air cleaner for the original owner.  I only run pure 93/95 octane gas and every 2 tanks it gets a small shot of Chevron Techron fuel system cleaner. The Ducati Race Tech at Skagit Power Sports recommended I do this given I was not planning on riding it day in and day out.  I start the bike every 4 -6 weeks, let it warm up, and ride it around the block to keep all the fluids moving through it.

The oil was just changed at 1,800 miles with Mobil1 Fully Synthetic.  When I initially brought the bike home I had my local Ducati shop give it the once over, change the oil, brake fluid, and clutch fluid just to be safe. I have the original exhaust, ecu, 02 sensor, air box top, exhaust inserts, tail light mount, tag mount, keys, and paperwork including the Dyno Report from when the exhaust set up and tune was done at Skagit. I have not had any spread tank issues, so the tank has not been replaced. In the photo's it appears there is a scratch on the lower right exhaust, but there is not. It is just a small amount of white dust.

I have an extra Ducati oil filter you can have as well as a set of plugs for it.  I did do my own tail tuck on the rear brake light, installed flashing LED tail light pods, and wired the bike with red LED’s. Again I have the original tail parts and the wiring job is meticulous, most people would never know it was there. It is on a switch so the lights can be turned on or off.  I also have a black moto graphics tank protector that was made specifically for the sport classic series that will come with it; just never put it on.

Should you buy it for the buy it now price, I will throw in the helmet shown. It’s a Shoei RF 1100, I bought it in December 2011 specifically for this bike so it has very little wear, never dropped, no scratches. The bike has a clear title. It is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time for any reason.

I will not take strange wire transfers or any other complicated means of payment. You can make the initial payment to my paypal following the auction and send me a check or bring cash. I won’t box the bike, but I will make myself available for it to be picked up if you wish to have it shipped.  I will not release the bike without payment in full or without the payment clearing the bank. I don’t need help selling the bike either.

Must contact me within 24 hours and a $500 non-refundable deposit required to be paid to my paypal within 24 hours of the auction. Condition: This is a used motorcycle and as such has some wear associated with a used motorcycle. Otherwise it is in good, clean running condition. I know of no problems with the bike.

Traction control? Yawn...

Tue, 10 Jan 2012

My long-term Fireblade went back to Honda last week and, seeing as it’s sunny and mild outside now, I’m already missing it. It is one of the best 1000cc sports bikes out there, I don’t care what anyone else says, the way it makes its power is just perfect for fast road use. With the Power Commander 5 fitted and the fuelling sorted my 2011 Blade performed as well if not better than the 2012 version.

Rossi's Mugello helmet: Let's Stick Together

Sat, 14 Jul 2012

When I think of Mugello, I think of that huge start/finish straight, that Nakano crash and of course, Rossi's Mugello-only helmets. This year, the theme is 'let's stick together'. Just before Free Practice 3, Valentino Rossi unveiled his Mugello helmet, his message is: "Let's stick together" or "Restiamo uniti" in the style of the Italian entertainer Gianni Morandi.

The Making of the Ducati Desmosedici GP12 – Video

Mon, 19 Mar 2012

Ducati has released a video describing the work that went into producing its Desmosedici GP12 to coincide with the MotoGP race machine’s official unveiling. The Bologna, Italy, manufacturer gave the Desmosedici a much-publicized overhaul after a disasterous 2011 season, with star rider Valentino Rossi going without a win for the first time in his Grand Prix racing career. From the post-season test in Valencia, Spain, in November to today, Ducati redesigned is race bike, with Ducati Corse General Manager Filippo Preziosi saying 90% of the parts are new.
