Ducati Other description

2014 Ducati Diavel Strada, 2013 Ducati Diavel Strada The power keeps on flowing The exuberance of the Diavel meets maximum comfort. Innovative solutions and dedicated accessories - side bags, windshield, new seat and raised handlebars - make the Diavel Strada ideal to dominate the asphalt on the open road. Features: Testastretta 11 The Diavels heart is the Ducati Testastretta 11 - developed directly from the incredibly powerful, world-beating race engines of Ducati Corse. Ducati s Testastretta 11 harnesses the immense power of the Superbike engine and makes it smooth and adaptable, a massive step forward in balancing high-performance with an enjoyable ride. For an engine with brute power on tap when needed and smooth, user-friendliness available for an effortless and comfortable ride, Ducati revised the configuration of the cam timing with particular focus on the valve overlap angle. The overlap angle is defined as the interval of crankshaft rotation, measured in degrees, during which both the intake and exhaust valves are open at the same time. This overlap occurs between the end of the exhaust stroke and the start of the intake stroke. High performance engines, which are subject to compromising smoothness for extreme power delivery, use high values of this parameter in order to benefit from the pressure waves to improve engine performance by maximising volumetric efficiency. On the Testastretta 11 engine, this angle has been reduced from 41 , used in the Testastretta Evoluzione engine which powers the 1198, to 11 . As a result, the fresh inlet charge flow is less compromised by the exiting exhaust gases, resulting in a much smoother combustion in addition to improved fuel economy and lower exhaust emissions. Ergonomics The low seat height at 770 mm makes the bike accessible to everyone. In addition, new ergonomic parameters offer the rider an unprecedented level of comfort and control. The special shape of the tourer seat ensures great comfort, while the handlebar has been raised by 15 and moved back by 60 mm mm to promote a straighter, more relaxing riding position. Touring equipment The tourer character of the Diavel Strada is enhanced by details designed to improve the travel experience of rider and passenger. Heated grips improve comfort in adverse weather conditions, whereas new fixed pillion rider footpegs, luggage system with integrated grab rails and dedicated backrest increase stability and passenger comfort. The new, broader touring windscreen blends seamlessly into the aggressive silhouette of the Diavel Strada and affords excellent wind protection, offering an enhanced feeling of comfort. Comfort is brought to the next level by new ergonomics based on the dedicated tourer seat and the new handlebar, which is raisedby 15 mm and moved back by 60mm to ensure total, relaxed control for superior riding pleasure.

The quietest Panigale in the world

Tue, 07 Aug 2012

For 1199 Panigale to be eligble in Japan, Ducati have had to make it quieter by adding a longer exhaust and a different clutch cover to pass noise tests. The exhaust adds 4kg to the overall 164kg weight, it also requires a unique Japan-only engine mapping. Further dampening the sound is a plastic clutch cover that extends up to cover the rear cylinder.
