The 899 is the newest in a line of smaller Ducati Superbikes tracing their lineage back to the 748. Like the smaller Superbike models before it, the 899 takes most of the characteristics of it's larger sibling, and puts it into a more usable, accessible and affordable. The 899 Panigale comes with the same chassis design utilizing the motor as a stressed member in the chassis which the swing arm, sub frame, and air box/front sub frame bolts to. Ducati's Safety Pack of 8 level traction control and adjustable ABS comes standard along with a quick shifter, and engine breaking control. Showa Big Piston Forks and Brembo monoblock break calipers make up the front end. A fully adjustable Sachs shock handles suspension duty on the rear end. 148HP and 73lb-ft. or torque ensures that you have plenty of usable power for road and track riding.

While Ducati unveiled the highly anticipated Streetfighter 1098, 1198, 1098R Bayliss replica and the M11 to press, it also showed dealers a fifth model. However, unlike last year, Bayliss took home the crown in front of a capacity crowd of over 6000 people at the Taree Motorcycle Club. Bayliss didn’t win the title easily, as American, and 2009 AMA Grand National champion, Sammy Halbert, set the fastest time during Superpole and challenged the Australian for the first half of the 21-lap race.

And fair enough, if I could afford the bike and the trip then I’d be gone as well.
