It’s only the first day of the pre-season test, and Ducati spent much of its time trying to establish a base setup for the rest of the three-day test. Rossi logged 43 laps and his best time was 2:02.392, fifth fastest of the test and 0.735 seconds behind leader Jorge Lorenzo of Yamaha.

Audi‘s purchase of Ducati is still waiting for regulatory approval but that hasn’t stopped the two companies from taking advantage of their impending union. Audi will make its presence known at the upcoming World Ducati Week celebrations, June 21-24 at the newly-renamed Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. The German automaker will supply a range of cars to Ducati staff and management during World Ducati Week, and show off some of its high-end models such as the S6, S8 and the Audi R8 LMS (pictured above).

2014 WSBK – Assen Results

Mon, 28 Apr 2014

Heavy rains and a fortuitous red flag were the difference in the World Superbike Championship‘s visit to The Cathedral of motorcycle racing, the TT Circuit Assen in the Netherlands. Aprilia‘s Sylvain Guintoli captured his second win of the season in Race 1, which was halted early by a red flag with five laps to go just as it looked like reigning WSBK champion Tom Sykes was gearing up for a final challenge. The second race was also shortened, not by a red flag but because of a rain, turning the 21-lap race into a 10-lap sprint.
