Limited Edition 2014 Ducati 1199 Panigale S “Senna”
Tue, 08 Oct 2013Twenty years after the passing of Brazilian F1 superstar, Ayrton Senna, Ducati is offering special version 1199 Panigale. Built exclusively for the the Brazilian market, only 161 models will be produced in honor of the amount of Grand Prix races in which Senna competed. The special grey with red wheels color scheme was chosen by Senna during a visit to the Ducati factory only a few weeks before his last race in Imola in 1994. Scheduled to begin arriving in June, 2014 the Senna models will come equipped with a racing exhaust system and each will have its individual production number inscribed on the top fork clamp.
Ducati to Defend Pikes Peak International Hill Climb Crown [Video]
Thu, 02 Feb 2012Ducati North America announced it will return to Colorado to defend its title in the 2012 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Ducati riders have won the two previous years in the 1205cc motorcycle class with the Multistrada 1200, and the winning riders will be back with Ducati for 2012. Carlin Dunne, the 2011 1205cc class winner and the Hill Climb’s motorcycle class record holder will be joined by 2010 class winner and six-time overall Pikes Peak winner Greg Tracy to ride Ducati Multistrada 1200s prepped by the Spider Grips team for the July 8 event.
Magneti Marelli to Supply Electronics System to MotoGP Teams
Wed, 26 Sep 2012It’s no secret that promoter Dorna Motorsports has been trying to push a standardized electronics control unit for teams in the MotoGP World Championship. The lack of a top-tier electronics package has been one of the biggest challenges faced by MotoGP’s claiming rule teams, and a spec ECU would narrow the gap between the CRT bikes and the factory prototypes. The manufacturers competing in the series, Honda, Ducati and Yamaha, understandably are resistant to the idea considering the effort they’ve put in to develop their electronics systems.
